Seasoned MEP Project Manager with extensive experience leading industrial and data center construction projects. Proven expertise in managing multidisciplinary teams, MEP systems, project execution, commissioning, and regulatory compliance, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and on-time delivery. Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems on industrial construction and data center projects, ensuring strict compliance with technical specifications and Mexican regulatory requirements.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams with accountability and ownership, maintaining high standards of project execution and delivery.
- Verify compliance of electromechanical and special systems with project specifications, applicable codes, and Mexican standards.
- Prepare, review, and maintain complete project documentation, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and traceability of all records.
- Evaluate and manage contractor qualifications and performance, providing clear direction to ensure optimal project outcomes.
- Conduct design reviews to define and clarify scope of work, technical drawings, and project specifications with all stakeholders.
- Perform on-site inspections of piping systems, equipment fabrication, and installation activities to ensure compliance with established quality standards.
- Enforce safety regulations and industry best practices throughout all project phases, maintaining a zero-tolerance approach toward non-compliance.
- Conduct risk assessments and maintain the project risk register, identifying and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Lead value engineering initiatives and recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Facilitate project team meetings and client communications, preparing formal reports, meeting minutes, and technical correspondence.
- Oversee commissioning activities for electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation systems in accordance with project requirements and specifications.
- Manage project schedules, budget allocations, and resource planning, maintaining full accountability for project deliverables and outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in construction project management.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience serving as the responsible project lead, coordinating the design and construction of MEP systems for industrial, manufacturing, or data center projects.
- Demonstrated experience with electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation systems.
- Proven experience commissioning complex MEP systems.
- Strong knowledge of Mexican regulatory requirements, codes, and compliance standards.
- Fluent in both English and Spanish, with the ability to lead meetings, prepare technical documentation, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in risk management and implementation of safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Institute (PMI) certification (PMP preferred).
- Experience with sustainable construction projects and/or LEED-certified developments.
- Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and project management software.
- Experience leading value engineering initiatives and process optimization efforts.
- Proven track record managing large-scale and complex construction projects in Mexico.
