Sr. Backend Engineer – PHP / Magento 2

Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with 6+ years of experience in backend development, with strong expertise in PHP and Adobe Commerce/Magento 2 .

The adecuado candidate will have hands-on experience developing and extending Magento applications, building APIs and integrations, working with event-driven architectures, and troubleshooting distributed systems in cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and enhance backend applications using PHP and Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce .
- Build and extend Magento modules, services, plugins, observers, cron jobs, and message-queue consumers.
- Develop and maintain REST and GraphQL APIs and service layers.
- Integrate Magento with catalog, pricing, inventory, promotions, customer/identity, PIM, ERP, and OMS platforms.
- Design and implement event-driven solutions using RabbitMQ or similar messaging platforms .
- Develop middleware and adapters to support commerce-service integrations and phased migrations.
- Troubleshoot performance and production issues across distributed systems.
- Optimize Magento indexing,



database performance, caching, and asynchronous processing.
- Implement automated testing, CI/CD, code reviews, and production support practices.
- Collaborate closely with Architects and other engineering teams on technical solutions.
- Mentor engineers and provide hands-on technical leadership.

Required Qualifications

- 6+ years of backend development experience .
- Strong hands-on experience with PHP .
- Strong expertise in Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce .
- Experience with Magento REST APIs and GraphQL .
- Experience with Magento modules, plugins, observers, cron jobs, and message queues.
- Strong experience with RabbitMQ or similar asynchronous messaging technologies .
- Experience with AWS/cloud-native services .
- Strong knowledge of databases, caching, and distributed systems.
- Experience with MySQL, Redis , or similar technologies.
- Experience with CI/CD and automated testing.
- Strong debugging and production-support experience.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience mentoring engineers or serving as a senior technical lead is preferred.
