Foundry Process & Quality Engineer

Location: Emiliano Zapata, Mexico

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Foundry Process & Quality Engineer with strong expertise in sand casting and iron casting , process improvement, quality engineering, and manufacturing problem-solving.

The adecuado candidate will drive improvements in casting quality, reduce defects and scrap, improve production yield, and support foundry operations through data-driven root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

- Identify and resolve casting defects including porosity, core shift, NCU, over-grinding , and other foundry-related quality issues.
- Conduct process audits and ensure compliance with foundry control plans, procedures, and quality standards.
- Analyze production, yield, scrap, and defect data to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
- Lead structured problem-solving activities using 8D, DOE, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Pareto analysis , and other quality tools.
- Collaborate with foundry, machining, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve downstream quality issues.
- Interpret engineering drawings, casting/machining specifications, CAD models, and GD&T; requirements .
- Drive Lean Six Sigma initiatives to improve process capability,



productivity, yield, and overall manufacturing performance.
- Support production ramp-up, process stabilization, and launch activities for complex cast components.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce recurring casting defects.
- Partner with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to establish sustainable process and quality improvements.

Required Qualifications & Skills
- 5–10 years of experience in foundry, casting, manufacturing process, or quality engineering .
- Strong knowledge of sand casting and/or iron casting processes.
- Experience with casting defect analysis and resolution .
- Hands-on experience with process audits, quality improvement, and manufacturing problem-solving .
- Strong knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, 8D, DOE, RCA, and Pareto analysis .
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret production, yield, scrap, and quality data .
- Proficiency in engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T; .
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent English and Spanish are mandatory.
- Must possess a valid work visa and be willing to travel frequently to Canada and the USA .
