Manufacturing Engineer - Metal Stamping - Tool Design & Business Development Summary (About this Position): The North America Connection Systems Team has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer - Metal Stamping - Tool Design & Business Development in Saltillo, Mexico . This position offers a unique opportunity to combine technical engineering expertise with business strategy, helping shape the future of Aptiv's metal stamping operations across North America. The successful candidate will lead the development of new terminal stamping tools and improvements to existing tooling and manufacturing processes through technical estimating, business case development, and tool design activities. Working closely with manufacturing, product engineering, sourcing, finance, and integral metal stamping teams, this individual will develop cost-effective tooling solutions that support new business opportunities, localization projects, and continuous improvement initiatives. This highly visible role provides exposure to global manufacturing operations and offers the opportunity to collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. The successful candidate will play a key role in influencing tooling strategies, capital investments, manufacturing technologies, and future business growth within one of Aptiv's most important manufacturing regions. Responsibilities: Develop tooling, equipment, and process cost estimates for new business opportunities, localization projects, and capital investments.




Create and maintain business cases to support tooling, equipment, automation, and manufacturing improvement initiatives.
Partner with commercial, product engineering, and manufacturing teams to evaluate and develop new business opportunities, localization strategies, and manufacturing investments that support the growth of Aptiv's Connection Systems business.
Design and support the development of progressive stamping dies, tooling revisions, and manufacturing process improvements.
Collaborate with product engineering, manufacturing plants, sourcing, and suppliers to establish tooling concepts and assess manufacturing feasibility.
Support quotation activities by evaluating tooling requirements, manufacturing processes, cycle times, and investment costs.
Analyze technical and financial risks associated with new programs and capital projects and recommend mitigation strategies.
Work with internal and external suppliers on tool design, build, and validation activities.
Support the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives focused on tool quality, cost reduction, productivity, and uptime.
Evaluate existing tooling and manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for optimization and waste reduction.
Prepare technical and financial presentations for leadership reviews related to new business opportunities and capital expenditures.
Support funding requests, capital appropriation packages, spending forecasts, purchase requisitions,



and capitalization activities.
Coordinate tooling timelines and deliverables to support program launch objectives for cost, quality, and timing.
Collaborate with global engineering teams to establish and share best practices in metal stamping technology and tool design.
Support manufacturing plants during tool launches, troubleshooting activities, process validations, and production improvements.
Adhere to all Aptiv Corporate, Signal & Power Solutions, Connection Systems, and local procedures.
Travel domestically and internationally as needed to support manufacturing facilities, suppliers, and technical reviews.
Ensure compliance with customer‑specific requirements and production facility standards.
Work Environment: This role requires a mix of office and on-site work at Aptiv Technical Centers, Manufacturing Facilities, Supplier Locations, and Customer Sites. Full‑time availability with regular presence Aptiv Technical Centers and support of Manufacturing Facilities is required. Travel may be required to support plant activities, supplier evaluations, tool tryouts, and technology investigations.
Must Haves (i.e. Basic Qualifications): Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field OR Journeyman Tool and Die Maker
Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD, Siemens NX, or similar design software.
Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Power BI.
Experience in tool design, manufacturing engineering, metal stamping, or a related field.
Experience developing tooling, equipment, or manufacturing cost estimates.
