Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Design Engineer position based in Corregidora, Querétaro.
We're looking for a design engineer with strong expertise in ASME Code design to lead the engineering of pressure equipment. This role owns the technical design and documentation of ASME-code equipment, ensuring compliance with Section VIII (pressure vessel design) and Section IX (welding qualification) requirements. You will develop detailed designs, calculations, and drawings that support manufacturing while ensuring code compliance and structural integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Design pressure equipment in accordance with ASME Section VIII, Division 1 (and/or 2)
- Develop and review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) per ASME Section IX
- Perform engineering calculations for vessel design (shell, heads, nozzles, supports, reinforcement)
- Create and maintain detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Perform vessel design verification using COMPRESS (or equivalent software such as PV Elite)
- Prepare technical documentation, design reports, and calculation packages for code compliance
- Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and welding teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and code-compliant
- Support the resolution of technical issues during fabrication
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ASME Code updates and interpretations
Qualifications & Technical Requirements
This role requires an engineer with strong technical foundations in pressure vessel design and code compliance.
You must have
- Proven experience in mechanical/design engineering, specifically with ASME-code equipment
- Solid knowledge of ASME Section VIII (pressure vessel design)
- Solid knowledge of ASME Section IX (welding qualifications — WPS/PQR)
- Experience using COMPRESS or equivalent pressure vessel design software (PV Elite, etc.)
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drafting
- Ability to perform and interpret engineering calculations for vessel components
- Ability to read and produce technical drawings, GD&T;, and welding symbols
- Strong documentation and technical reporting skills
