Provide dedicated technical depth to develop, document, and implement new technologies applicable for brake systemsSupport application teams when developed technology is launched and assist during issue resolutionUnderstand how current technologies work and how different components interact with brake systemsCollaborate with a global cross-functional team of engineers to develop and release new requirements for current and future brake technologiesLead GPDS pre-program work on programs using new brake technologyWork with the brake supply base to ensure requirements are met and the right products are developedEnsure timely delivery of AR (Application Readiness) for brake technologies to support program delivery and product cycle planLead supplier advanced technology meetings and guide the supply base on technology roadmaps for future Ford productsServe as the critical technical resource for quality investigations, Field Service Investigations, launch issue resolution, and new product developmentLead and provide expertise in FMA (Failure Mode Avoidance), Safe Launch, Quality Operating Systems, reliability, and robustness documentation of brake systemsProvide SME sign-off for TDR, TVM/MCR, SREA, and CDRBenchmark competitor and internal brake systems and drive efficient technical solutionsDevelop brake technical standards, design rules, requirements, test methods, engineering specifications, preventive actions, and corporate memoryCoach, mentor, and train members of the Integral Brake DepartmentRequirements
Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics engineeringMinimum 2 years of design and release (D&R;)
or development brake experienceSelf-starter who can learn to use new tools and find solutions – ability to troubleshoot & fix vehicle problemsMotivation to bring new technologies from concept to production in a short timeOutstanding leadership and written and verbal communication skillsExperience with FMA and related quality assurance processesExperience in supplier management and cost negotiationAwareness of, or experience with ISO 26262, Road vehicles – Functional safetyExperience with complex systems, analysis tools and problem-solving methodsCore Competencies
