Job Description – Manager, Business Continuity and Incident Management (BCIM) (GCB 5)
Role purpose
Plan, coordinate, and implement
Business Continuity
and
Incident Management
activities across all departments in
HBMX‐EDPM
, ensuring end‐to‐end planning with key stakeholders (scope, deliverables, timelines, and service levels) to sustain and restore operations during disasters, contingencies, or major incidents.
This includes coordination and communication with
Region, Senior Management, Business and Functions
, as well as managing activities related to
audits, governance, control, and risk requirements
for the function.
Key responsibilities (Principal accountabilities)
Business impact
Act as the
single, primary point of contact
for the BCIM team for all entities/areas for BCIM-related queries.
Lead the implementation
of BCIM standards, initiatives, and local regulatory requirements.
Manage the relationship with
BC Champions
through regular two‐way meetings (tracking initiatives, policies, implementation blockers, and deliverables).
Implement and operate the
Incident Management framework
, ensuring business recovery when contingencies or major incidents occur.
Coordinate and ensure
robust testing
across Business and Functions in line with the agreed schedule.
Ensure areas complete activities required by
BCIM Standards
and local regulation; and ensure
GSC
remains on track with
MIM Standard
activities.
Challenge Business/Functions to strengthen their
BC Plans
and improve strategies to meet business needs.
Act as a
Subject Matter Expert (SME)
to support business areas.
Implement and monitor the
BCIM training & awareness
programme in GSC MX.
Customer focus: remain flexible with changes and promote a "WOW factor" in service.
Customers / stakeholders / compliance
Track the
Annual Compliance Certificate
, ensuring progress on Business Continuity Planning to meet FIM requirements.
Continuously reassess the
Business Continuity Plan
, reflecting business changes, legal/regulatory requirements, procedures, restructures, and the impact of new technologies.
Ensure the
quality
of BCIM programme implementation: identify improvements, document action plans, and follow through to closure.
Ensure Business and Functions
BC Plans
are sufficiently robust and monitor their effectiveness.
Audit, control, and risk
Manage and follow up on activities arising from
internal/external audits
, functional reviews, governance, control, and risk requirements.
Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of audit points and regulator-related matters.
Role requirements (Functional knowledge / skills)
Experience and knowledge
3–5 years
of experience in
Business Continuity
and
Incident Management

Strong experience in
Business Continuity
and
Crisis Management

Strong knowledge of
local financial regulation
.
Proven experience in
programme deployment
or
project management
with fixed deadlines.
Desirable: experience in
Incident Management and Emergency Response
(techniques, methods, procedures).
Desirable: experience in
audit or quality assurance
and/or BC programme implementation in the financial sector.
Languages and tools
Fluent English
(spoken and written).
Strong proficiency with Microsoft tools (e.g.,
PowerPoint, Excel
).
