Develop Ford ICE, Power Split, and BEV powertrain systems using systems engineering, signoff, and failure mode avoidance practicesUse Model-Based Systems Engineering tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler (MagicDraw) to develop and maintain DFMEAs across legacy and future powertrainsWork with Technical Specialists and D&Rs; to include design parameters in models and drive design verificationOwn FMA documentation, including DFMEAs, Boundary Diagrams, DV Plans, and Quality HistoryMaintain lessons learned and apply them to future designs through FMA and design-rule processesManage Unit Workbooks, design specifications, and descriptive models communicating powertrain requirements and capabilitiesCreate single-point lessons on FMA documentationAssess new powertrain designs and determine applicable design rules, requirements, and regulationsWork with design and release engineers to develop evidence for compliance before technical specialist sign-offFacilitate joint design reviews across product development, manufacturing, and qualityAssist handoff of design work from concept to production development teamsCreate system documentation, architecture diagrams, and functional specifications; govern system-level requirementsEnsure new designs and vehicles meet GPDS program gateways and deliverablesUnderstand and apply design rules and requirements for transmission and power-unit components and systemsRequirementsBachelor's degree or equivalentBS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field required3+ years of transmission or power unit development experience3+ years of experience with FMA Development (DFMEA, RCL, P-Diagram,
etc.)Advanced knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler (MagicDraw), PTC Windchill Risk and Reliability, IQ-FMEA, or similarExperience with SysML modeling language and RAAML specificationsKnowledge of transmission/eDrive system components, assembly, and associated failure modesAdvanced knowledge of Systems EngineeringPreferred: Master's in Product Development, Systems Engineering, or another engineering disciplineBasic software writing experience in Python or GroovyExperience analyzing descriptive models for complex decision-makingPrior experience in systems design and processesFormal Systems Engineering knowledgeStrong understanding of vehicle dynamics, electric motors, battery systems, and traditional ICE componentsCore CompetenciesDemonstrates expertise in Model-Based Systems Engineering, particularly with Cameo Systems Modeler, and possesses strong knowledge of transmission and power unit development.
