Job Title: Injection Molding Shift Technician – Night Shift
Location: Toronto, Ontario
Position Type: Full-time, Permanent
Shift: Night Shift (Typically 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM Continental, to be confirmed)
Salary Range: $25.00 – $35.00 CAD / hour (Based on experience) + Night Shift Premium

Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Injection Molding Shift Technician to oversee, troubleshoot, and optimize our overnight production line. You will be responsible for machine setups, mold changes, process optimization, and ensuring minimal downtime. The ideal candidate has deep technical knowledge of injection molding machinery, robotic automation, and a strong commitment to nighttime safety and quality metrics.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Setups & Mold Changes: Perform efficient mold changes, install inserts, and set up auxiliary equipment (chillers, dryers, thermolators).
- Process Optimization: Troubleshoot and adjust machine parameters (temperature, pressure, cycle times, screw speed) to resolve defects like flash, short shots, warp, or sink marks.
- Production Maintenance: Start up and shut down injection molding machines (ranging from [e.g., 50 to 500 tons]) safely according to standard operating procedures.
- Automation & Robotics: Program and troubleshoot 3-axis or 6-axis linear robots (e.g., Wittmann, Sepro, Fanuc)
for part extraction and packaging.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor part quality continuously against blueprints and specifications; utilize calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify tolerances.
- Night Shift Leadership: Act as the technical point of contact during the night shift, ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience as an Injection Molding Technician or Setter in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Thorough understanding of plastic resins (PP, ABS, PC, Nylon), hot runner systems, and hydraulic/electric molding machinery (e.g., Engel, Husky, Arburg, KraussMaffei).
- Shift Adaptability: Proven track record of working stable night shifts or rotating continental schedules with high alertness and reliability.
- Language: Professional working proficiency in English (verbal and written).
- Education: High school diploma required; technical certifications or a diploma in plastics engineering/manufacturing technology is a strong asset.
