Job Overview

We are a fintech company specializing in unsecured micro-lending (cash loans / App-based credit) in Mexico, with operations covering online lending, in-house collections, and outsourced collections. We are currently in a critical phase of entity compliance and licensing – including SOFOM entity structuring, regulatory registration and maintenance, consumer protection and collection compliance, and data privacy.

This is a "from 0 to 1" role – you will be building the local compliance system from the ground up. It is not just a contract review position, but a role that deeply engages in the compliance design of the full credit lifecycle – from "lending money out" to "getting it back."

Key Responsibilities

Corporate Governance & Entity Compliance

· Manage day-to-day legal affairs for the local SOFOM entity: articles of incorporation, shareholder and equity changes, legal representative changes, power of attorney documents, registrations, and regulatory updates.

· Liaise with regulatory registrations and filings (CNBV financial entity registration, CONDUSEF registration, etc.); handle regulatory inquiries and periodic reporting.

Business Compliance (Credit & Collections)

· Establish and maintain full-cycle lending compliance: loan agreements, interest rate and fee disclosures, template terms, electronic signing, and evidence retention.

· Oversee collections compliance: review and quality-assess internal collection scripts and recordings; enforce collection discipline and control pressure/inappropriate language.

· Manage outsourced collection agencies: contract drafting and review, supplier compliance audits, non-compliance remediation and termination processes.

Data Privacy & Consumer Protection

· Lead local data privacy compliance (LFPDPPP): privacy notices, data sharing with credit bureaus, and cross-border data transfers.

· Manage consumer complaints, CONDUSEF claims, and customer dispute resolution.

Contracts, Employment & Litigation Support

· Draft and review local bilingual (Spanish/English) contracts: outsourcing, IT,

leasing, suppliers, SIM cards, and channel partner agreements; establish contract templates and tracking systems.

· Provide legal support on local employment and social security (IMSS): employment contracts, termination risks, and labor disputes.

· Manage external law firms and budgets; issue legal opinions on material matters; follow up on litigation and regulatory risk events.

Headquarters Coordination

· Report local regulatory updates and risk events to headquarters compliance/legal teams; support cross-border funding, shareholder structure, and AML-related matters.

Qualifications

Required

· Mexican law degree (Licenciatura en Derecho) with valid Mexican legal license (Cédula Profesional).

· 5+ years of corporate legal or law firm experience, with exposure to banking/credit/SOFOM/consumer finance/collection agency sectors.

· Deep understanding of Mexican consumer financial protection and collections compliance requirements (or ability to quickly learn and implement).

· Independent contract drafting and legal research capabilities; working language can be either Spanish or English.

· Integrity and prudence; able to provide actionable business advice in ambiguous situations, not just identify risks.

· Strong sense of responsibility; comfortable with cross-border collaboration and multi-tasking.

Preferred

· Chinese or English as a working language for direct communication with headquarters.

· Hands-on experience with CONDUSEF, CNBV, or INAI regulatory interactions.

· Experience in credit institution registrations, licensing, or fintech authorization projects.

· Familiarity with collections call compliance, cross-border data privacy, or credit bureau data governance.

What We Offer

· "From 0 to 1" opportunity to build a licensed compliance system – high-value career experience.

· Cross-border experience collaborating with headquarters, local operations, and third-party vendors.

· Competitive compensation package with adaptable work arrangements.

· Professional growth in a fast-growing fintech environment.

Location: Mexico City, Mexico (Hybrid)
