Social Media Strategist & Content Manager
Independent Contractor | Account-Based
Remote | English + Spanish Required
About Canni Studio
Founded by Dr. Sasha Arum, Canni Studio is an expert-led consulting and creative studio that helps professionals, founders, and organizations launch, maintain, and grow clear, credible, client-ready brands and platforms. We work internationally with clients across public health, healthcare, life sciences, law, higher education, nonprofit leadership, professional services, and other mission-driven fields where accuracy, credibility, reputation, and thoughtful communication matter.
Our work is strategy-led, execution-focused, systems-driven, and human-centered. At Canni Studio, social media is treated as an extension of an organization’s broader communications strategy. We develop thoughtful content systems that support education, thought leadership, advocacy, audience trust, visibility, and long-term engagement rather than simply producing isolated posts.
The Opportunity
Canni Studio is seeking a bilingual Social Media Strategist & Content Manager to support selected client accounts, Canni Studio, and associated studio brands through social media strategy, content planning, research, copywriting, content development, short-form video, and performance analysis.
This is a remote, account-based independent contractor opportunity rather than a full-time or guaranteed-hours position. Contractors may be invited to support individual accounts, recurring engagements, campaigns, or a combination of assignments based on studio needs, experience, availability, and fit. Professional proficiency in both English and Spanish is required.
Our clients often work in highly specialized and reputation-sensitive fields, so this role requires more than the ability to produce engaging social content. We’re looking for someone who can understand complex subject matter, conduct thoughtful research, exercise strong editorial and visual judgment, and develop platform-specific content that protects credibility while advancing broader communications and organizational goals.
What You May Work On
Specific responsibilities will vary by account and assignment, but may include:
- Developing platform-specific social media strategies and content plans aligned with each account’s audience, positioning, objectives, and broader communications priorities
- Researching and translating services, programs, campaigns, events, research, expertise, and complex subject matter into relevant, accessible, and engaging social content
- Writing and editing platform-specific content in English and Spanish, including captions, hooks, calls to action, educational content, thought leadership, advocacy content, and campaign messaging
- Creating polished day-to-day social media assets using approved Canva templates, brand guidelines, and established visual systems, while identifying when specialized creative support is needed
- Developing and editing short-form video content for Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other relevant formats, including repurposing existing footage and long-form content
- Managing content workflows from planning through review and approval, coordinating with designers, video specialists, strategists, clients, and other contributors as needed
- Analyzing content and account performance, identifying meaningful patterns and opportunities, and translating insights into practical recommendations for future strategy and content
- Supporting scheduling, publishing, community engagement, and recurring client reporting when included within the scope of an assigned account
What We’re Looking For We’re looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with strong execution across both written and visual content. You should be able to understand what an organization is trying to communicate and accomplish, determine how social media can support those priorities, and translate that thinking into accurate, engaging, visually polished content.
The idóneo candidate will bring:
- At least 3 years of professional experience developing and executing social media or digital communications strategies across organizations, brands, institutions, or mission-driven initiatives
- Professional proficiency in both English and Spanish, with excellent writing, copywriting, editing, and communication skills in both languages
- A strong portfolio demonstrating social media strategy, content development, platform-specific copywriting, visual content design, campaign work, and short-form video across multiple accounts or initiatives
- Strong visual content creation skills, with demonstrated ability to design polished,
professional social media graphics and adapt content across formats while maintaining brand consistency and strong visual hierarchy
- Advanced proficiency with Canva and other relevant content creation tools, with the ability to work confidently within established brand guidelines and template systems
- Strong working knowledge of major social platforms, including Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and TikTok, with an understanding of platform-specific formats, audiences, and best practices
- Strong research, information-synthesis, and editorial judgment, with the ability to translate complex subject matter into clear, accurate, audience-appropriate communication while maintaining credibility and brand voice
- Strong organization, reliability, and communication, with the ability to independently manage deadlines and deliverables while collaborating effectively with remote, cross-functional teams and clients
Experience supporting public health, healthcare, life sciences, nonprofits and mission-driven organizations, advocacy, higher education, legal, professional associations, consulting, or professional services is a plus. Experience in an agency, consulting, institutional, or multi-client environment is also valuable.
Engagement Structure
This is an independent contractor opportunity with assignments offered on an account-by-account or project-by-project basis. There are no guaranteed weekly hours, number of accounts, or volume of assignments. For each assignment offered and accepted, Canni Studio will establish the scope, responsibilities, expected capacity, timeline, compensation, communication expectations, and approval process in advance.
Assignments may include ongoing client accounts, defined campaigns or initiatives, Canni Studio’s own social media presence, or associated studio brands. Strong collaborators may be offered opportunities to support additional accounts over time based on business needs, quality of work, reliability, communication, availability, and fit.
