After-Hours Pediatric Doctor

Schedule: Overnight / After-Hours, 10am-6pm EST. Monday-Sunday

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced After-Hours Clinical Pediatric Doctor or doctor to provide overnight clinical support for a growing network of healthcare clinics.

This doctor will serve as the first clinical point of contact for urgent patient-related situations that arise after regular business hours. The role requires someone who can quickly assess a situation, gather the appropriate clinical information, follow established protocols, and determine when a case needs to be escalated to the on-call provider or emergency services.

This is a remote position requiring strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in urgent situations.

Key Responsibilities

- Respond promptly to after-hours calls involving urgent patient concerns or changes in condition.
- Perform telephone-based clinical triage using established protocols and escalation guidelines.
- Ask appropriate clinical questions to assess the patient's situation and level of urgency.
- Determine whether a situation can be managed according to established protocols or requires escalation to an on-call physician/provider.
- Recognize potential medical emergencies and direct callers to emergency services when required by established protocols.
- Communicate with patients, families, caregivers, clinic staff, and on-call providers as needed.




- Provide clear instructions within the nurse's authorized scope of practice and company protocols.
- Document all calls, assessments, actions taken, recommendations, and escalations accurately.
- Ensure urgent matters are properly handed off to the appropriate clinical team.
- Follow up on unresolved overnight cases when required.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational policies.

Qualifications

- Doctor degree and active doctor license appropriate for the responsibilities of the position.
- Previous experience in nursing, clinical triage, urgent care, emergency care, home health, or another patient-facing clinical environment strongly preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to recognize warning signs and determine when immediate escalation is necessary.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Comfortable communicating with patients and families by phone.
- Calm, confident, and professional when handling stressful or urgent situations.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working independently during overnight hours.
- Reliable internet connection and appropriate remote working environment.

The ideal candidate is an experienced nurse who is calm under pressure, clinically knowledgeable, decisive, and an excellent communicator. They should be comfortable receiving an unexpected medical call, quickly gathering the relevant information, following established clinical protocols, and knowing when a situation must be escalated.

- This position is particularly well suited for a nurse with experience in telephone triage, emergency/urgent care, home health, outpatient care, or after-hours clinical support.
