What You Need To Make a Difference:
- 50% Regional Customs Operations Management
- Independently manage and instruct daily import/export operations for South American countries by issuing instructions to customs agents via trade management systems.
- Conduct thorough verification of complex customs and commercial documentation (e.g., invoices, packing lists, BL/AWB) to ensure full compliance with local regulations.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customs agencies and regional logistics teams, resolving difficult operational inquiries and managing requirements for customs declarations.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure all necessary documentation and information is provided to customs brokers in a timely manner.
- 30% Compliance, Auditing, and Reporting
- Maintain and oversee accurate, auditable records of all foreign trade operations per country, ensuring data integrity and compliance with record-keeping policies.
- Support internal and external customs audits by preparing documentation, consolidating information,
and explaining operational processes to auditors.
- Consolidate data for regional performance reports and dashboards, analyzing operational KPIs to identify trends and support continuous improvement.
- Ensure all customs activities are performed in alignment with internal control procedures (ICPs) and company policies.
- 20% Process Integrity and Risk Mitigation
- Proactively identify, investigate, and escalate documentary inconsistencies or compliance risks to the Regional Customs Manager for resolution.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of customs processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on operational feedback and regulatory changes.
- Coach and review the work of lower-level professionals or support staff on standard operational tasks to ensure quality and consistency.
