Amentum is seeking aMarine Machinistto support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Marine Machinist will be responsible for performing precision machining, mechanical repairs, installation, and maintenance of marine machinery and equipment. This position supports the operational readiness of marine vessels and facilities by ensuring mechanical systems and components are properly maintained, repaired, and fabricated to required specifications.
Job Responsibilities:
- Operate machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other precision equipment.
- Machine, Fabricate, repair,



and modify parts and components for marine systems and equipment.
- Perform alignment, installation, repair, and maintenance of marine machinery, including pumps, valves, engines, gear mechanisms, and hydraulic systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical issues affecting marine vessels and equipment.
- Assist with installation and overhaul of mechanical systems in accordance with technical specifications and established procedures.
- Use precision measurement tools, including micrometers, calipers, and gauges, to ensure components meet required specifications.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to reduce equipment downtime and extend equipment life.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work, parts used, inspections, and maintenance activities.
