The (EHS) Machine Safety Engineer will work closely with the EHS, manufacturing, facilities, engineering and maintenance groups to reduce hazards and ensure a safe working environment, by leading the equipment risk assessments and process hazard analysis. Evaluate equipment design and suggest modifications, and safety improvements is key for this position to contribute to the success of our safety programs. This position reports to Machine Safety Manager, and will interact with many areas and employees in the company.
Core Responsibilities:
- Execute safety inspections to complex machinery; and report findings to stakeholders.
- Execute MSG training and assess its efficiency.
- Verify new machinery and technologies are released according standards.
- Analyze KPI´s trends and propose actions to close the gaps.
- Follow-up on machine related observations and incidents.
- Execute inspection of new machinery following installation and before commission (SAT).Ensuring safety issues are logged accordingly and that plans for corrective actions are in place to minimize potential safety hazards.
- Develop and implement safety improvement projects.
- Validation of Engineering Change Request related with safety.
- Development of KPIs to measure Machine Safety performance.
- Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis through a PPS (practical problem-solving) methodology.
- Problem solving and continuous improvement related to machine safety.
Do you have what it takes?
- Proven experience with Engineering areas
- Knowledge of Machinery Directive 2006/42/CE and normatives as ISO 12100, IEC 60204, ISO 14120, ISO 13857, ISO 13849 and also normatives type C (specific for kind of machinery)
- Certification as a Machinery Safety Expert
- Knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Pneumatic, and Hydraulic Systems; Reading and Interpreting Diagrams.
