About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic
Controller
to join MezTal, supporting a U.S.-based client within the
Senior Housing / Real Estate industry . This role will be responsible for overseeing the entire accounting function, ensuring financial integrity, compliance with
U.S. GAAP , and leading high-level financial operations. The Controller will play a key role in driving process improvements, managing reporting accuracy, and partnering with leadership on financial strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end and year-end close, and financial reporting. Ensure full compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory requirements. Lead and develop the accounting team, setting performance standards and driving accountability. Review and approve financial statements, budgets, and forecasts. Provide strategic financial insights to support business decision-making.



Manage external audits and coordinate with auditors to ensure successful completion. Oversee and optimize accounting processes, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency. Ensure accurate and efficient use of
Yardi
for financial reporting and system management. Partner closely with senior leadership on financial planning and strategic initiatives.
Mandatory Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
100% onsite availability in Guadalajara (no hybrid or remote option). Bachelor's degree in Accounting (only Accounting degrees will be considered). Extensive experience in Senior Housing or Real Estate industry. Hands-on experience with Yardi accounting software.
Qualifications
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles. Strong expertise in U.S. GAAP and financial reporting. Proven experience leading accounting teams and managing complex operations. Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities. E
