We are looking for a Mid-Level CAD Designer to join our engineering team and support the design and development of plastic and sheet metal components for automotive engineering projects. In this role, you will be responsible for developing detailed 2D and 3D designs, assemblies, and parametric models, while proposing technical solutions and ensuring that designs meet project requirements related to functionality, manufacturability, quality, cost, and timing. You will work closely with Design Coordinators, engineers, and customers, contributing your technical expertise throughout the design and component release process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and develop detailed 2D drawings, 3D models, assemblies, and parametric components for plastic and sheet metal applications.
- Develop designs using CATIA and/or Siemens NX, following established CAD standards and best practices.
- Propose technical solutions to complex design challenges and optimize designs according to project requirements.
- Perform basic mechanism simulations and belt analysis when required.
- Evaluate the manufacturability of plastic and sheet metal components according to applicable production processes.
- Apply GD&T; principles to ensure dimensional and functional requirements are properly defined.
- Support and perform component release processes for OEM customers.
- Prepare technical documentation, presentations, and project deliverables.
- Review and validate drawings and models to ensure technical accuracy and quality.
- Manage design revisions, updates, and versions according to project requirements.
- Monitor project progress and communicate status, risks, and requirements to the Design Coordinator.
- Ensure design deliverables are completed according to established quality, timing, and project requirements.
- Prepare and submit monthly project-hours reports.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in customer meetings, design reviews, and technical presentations.
Requirements:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automotive Design, or a related field.
Experience & Technical Knowledge
- At least 2 years of experience designing manufacturable plastic components for interior and/or exterior applications and/or sheet metal components.
- At least 2 years of experience developing plastic and/or sheet metal components using 2D and 3D CAD.
- Practical experience with plastic and sheet metal manufacturing processes.
- At least 2 years of advanced experience with CATIA, including:
- Part Design
- Generative Shape Design
- Drafting
- DMU Kinematics
- DMU Fitting
- Experience with Siemens NX is a plus.
- At least 1 year of experience applying advanced GD&T; principles.
- At least 1 year of experience with manufacturing processes, such as plastic injection molding, cold stamping, or similar processes.
- At least 1 year of experience supporting or performing component release processes for OEM customers.
- Experience working with VW standards and tools, such as NTOOLS, KVS, OUTGEN, RPS, VALIDAT, VT PART, and 3DZP.
- Advanced English level, with the ability to communicate effectively with international customers.
