Senior VDC Coordinator – Structural Concrete

Location: Remote – Latin America

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM Pacific Time

Compensation: $2,000–$2,800 USD/month, based on experience

Position Type: Full-Time Independent Contractor

Company: Meier Concrete, Inc.

Important: This position is intended for candidates residing and working outside the United States and U.S. territories. We are not currently considering candidates who reside in the U.S.About the Position

Meier Concrete, Inc. is looking for a Senior VDC Coordinator – Structural Concrete to join our Structural Division.

This is not a generic BIM coordination role and it is not primarily a management position.

We are looking for someone who is highly experienced in Revit, structural concrete, and detailed model review, and who can serve as the technical quality-control layer between our VDC Engineers and our Project Engineers.

Our VDC team builds detailed Revit models that are used to create working drawings for the field, coordinate structural concrete with architectural and MEP requirements, identify clashes, develop RFIs, establish dimensions and elevations, plan pours, and extract quantities for upcoming concrete work.

The accuracy of these models directly affects how our work is built in the field.

Your primary responsibility will be to review the work produced by our VDC Engineers, identify errors or missing information, coordinate corrections, and make sure models and drawings are technically complete before they are turned over to our Project Engineers.

What You’ll Do

- Perform detailed QA/QC reviews of Revit models and structural concrete drawings produced by our VDC Engineers.
- Review projects floor by floor, section by section, detail by detail, and dimension by dimension.
- Verify foundations, footings, grade beams, columns, shear walls, concrete walls, suspended slabs, slab-on-grade, beams, slab edges, depressions, openings, elevations, and other concrete conditions.
- Compare models against structural, architectural, civil, MEP, shoring, and other project drawings.
- Identify discrepancies between drawings and help draft or coordinate RFIs when additional information is required.
- Create section boxes, sections, elevations, and review views needed to verify model accuracy.
- Review dimensions from gridlines and confirm that field layout information is complete and accurate.
- Review slab elevations, soffit elevations, wall heights, column heights, slab steps, depressions, and transitions.
- Track revisions and RFIs and verify that all affected model elements and drawings have been properly updated.
- Receive questions and requests from Project Engineers, assign revisions or modeling tasks to VDC Engineers, and verify the work before returning it to the PE.
- Help maintain consistent modeling standards across all Meier Concrete projects.
- Assist with development and improvement of Revit families, templates, parameters, schedules,

and internal VDC standards.
- Help train and coach VDC Engineers when recurring modeling or detailing issues are identified.
- Support quantity extraction, pour planning, sequencing, and other construction-related uses of the model.
- Help ensure that every project looks and functions like a Meier Concrete VDC model, regardless of which VDC Engineer originally created it.

What We’re Looking ForRequired
- Strong hands-on experience with Autodesk Revit.
- Strong understanding of structural concrete construction.
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and details.
- Experience reviewing or creating concrete models involving:
- Foundations
- Footings and grade beams
- Shear walls
- Concrete walls
- Columns
- Beams
- Slab-on-grade
- Suspended slabs
- Podium slabs
- Slab depressions and elevation changes
- Openings and penetrations
- Strong attention to detail and a genuine interest in finding errors before drawings are released.
- Ability to review work produced by others and clearly communicate corrections.
- Ability to understand how architectural, MEP, civil, and shoring drawings affect structural concrete work.
- Strong English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Ability to work Monday–Friday during our Pacific Time schedule.

Highly Preferred
- Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a strong structural focus.
- Experience with reinforced concrete buildings, parking structures, podiums, multifamily projects, mid-rise buildings, or subterranean structures.
- Experience preparing or reviewing concrete shop drawings, formwork drawings, reinforcing drawings, or structural coordination drawings.
- Experience working on U.S. construction projects.
- Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360.
- Experience with Navisworks.
- Experience creating Revit families, parameters, templates, schedules, or automation workflows.
- Experience mentoring, training, or teaching other BIM/VDC staff.
- Experience with quantity takeoffs, pour sequencing, or model-based construction planning.
- Experience with reinforcing steel modeling or detailing is a plus, but not required.

This Role Is Different From a BIM Manager Role

We want to be transparent about the nature of this position.

This is a hands-on technical role.

You will spend a significant amount of your time inside Revit reviewing models, cutting sections, checking details, identifying discrepancies, and making sure the work is correct.

You will coordinate work between our VDC Engineers and Project Engineers, but you will not simply manage a team from a distance.

We are specifically looking for someone who enjoys being close to the technical work and takes pride in producing accurate construction information.

As our VDC department continues to grow, there may be opportunities for additional leadership responsibilities.

Who Will Be Successful Here The right person will likely be someone who opens a model and immediately starts asking:

- Does this wall match the structural detail?
- Is this slab soffit correct?
- Is this column the correct size at this level?
- Did the modeler account for the architectural depression?
- Does the foundation step correctly with grade?
- Are all openings and penetrations accounted for?
- Do the dimensions work from the gridlines?
- Did this RFI affect another floor or another view?
- Is this drawing actually ready for someone in the field to build from?

We are not looking for someone who simply reviews the model visually and says that it “looks good.”

We want someone who is methodical, technically curious, detail-oriented, and willing to investigate every condition necessary to ensure the model is correct.
