Role: System Engineer – Virtualization

Location: Zapopan, Guadalajara, MX (onsite)

The System Engineer – Virtualization is responsible for the management and operations of THE CLIENT's VMware-based hyperconverged infrastructure, the shared storage that underpins it, and the on-premise Active Directory and Exchange services that run on it. This is a hands-on operations role covering both the virtualisation platform and the core Microsoft directory and messaging services.

Three positions are being established in Mexico. The team supports two separate Active Directory instances — one for THE CLIENT and one for Kanpak — in a hybrid Exchange configuration.

Key Responsibilities

- Management and operations of VMware-based hyperconverged infrastructure.
- Management of shared storage on Dell storage appliances.
- Configuration, management and operations of local domain controllers.
- Exchange administration through Exchange Online.
- Administration of a hybrid Exchange environment with on-premise Active Directory, maintaining separate instances for both THE CLIENT and Kanpak.




- Out-of-the-box monitoring for the VMware estate.

Environment & Engagement Context
- There is currently no plan to merge the THE CLIENT and Kanpak Active Directory instances; the successful candidate should expect to administer both as distinct environments on an ongoing basis.
- There is an ongoing project to migrate the Kanpak Office 365 tenant into the THE CLIENT Office 365 tenant. Familiarity with tenant-to-tenant migration will be valuable during this period.
- Monitoring of the VMware estate is currently limited to out-of-the-box capability rather than a bespoke or deeply integrated toolset.

Required Skills & Experience †
- 5–8 years of hands-on experience administering VMware vSphere / vCenter in a production environment.
- Practical experience operating hyperconverged infrastructure, ideally Dell VxRail or Nutanix.
- Working knowledge of shared storage administration on Dell storage appliances, including provisioning, LUN management and capacity planning.
- Strong Active Directory administration skills: domain controller build and configuration, sites and services, replication troubleshooting, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
- Demonstrated experience administering Exchange Online and hybrid Exchange topologies, including Azure AD Connect / Entra Connect synchronisation.
- Experience supporting multi-forest or multi-tenant environments.
- Comfortable with PowerShell for routine administration and reporting.
- Experience working within an ITIL-aligned incident, change and problem management process.
- Professional working proficiency in English and Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications †
- Prior involvement in Office 365 tenant-to-tenant migration projects.
- Exposure to Active Directory consolidation or domain migration programmes.
- Familiarity with backup and recovery tooling in the estate, particularly Veeam.




- Experience in a manufacturing or food production environment, including awareness of OT network adjacency.

Education & Certifications †
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline.
- VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) (desirable).
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate (desirable).
- ITIL Foundation certification (desirable).
