This position is responsible for data landscape discovery, profiling, and quality assessment across multiple systems and units.
The engineer will ensure that the client's future BI dashboards and architecture are built on trusted, well-documented, and high-quality data foundations.Data Landscape DiscoveryInventory databases, spreadsheets, third-party platforms, and external inputsMap data capture, storage, transfer, and consumption flowsDocument integration points, dependencies, and entity-relationship viewsData Profiling & Quality AssessmentConduct read-only profiling and representative sampling of priority sourcesAssess completeness, accuracy, consistency, timeliness, uniqueness, and structural integrityIdentify duplicates, missing fields, inconsistent naming, and free-text issuesDiagnose root causes and recommend remediation actionsQuality Scoring & RemediationScore issues by severity, business impact, recurrence,
and remediation effortProduce a Data Quality Assessment Report with quantified findingsCollaborate with unit focal points to validate findings and record limitationsETL/ELT & Architecture InputsSupport design of ETL/ELT processes for Azure/Power BI integrationProvide technical inputs for architecture recommendations (data lake vs. warehouse)Ensure operational/analytical separation and readiness for BI workloadsWork closely with the Project Lead, Business Analyst, and Power BI DeveloperContribute to weekly progress updates, evidence registers, and decision logsSupport roadmap sequencing by highlighting data dependencies and remediation prioritiesRequired Skills & Experience3+ years of experience in data engineering, data quality, or a related fieldStrong expertise in data profiling, cleansing, and quality assessmentHands-on experience with SQL, relational databases, and data-flow mappingFamiliarity with Microsoft Azure, Power BI, Dynamics GP, Zoho CRM, SRMI, or similar systemsKnowledge of ETL/ELT pipelines, schema design, and entity-relationship modelingAbility to diagnose root causes of data issues and propose sustainable remediationExcellent documentation and validation skills, ensuring traceable evidence for BI decisionsEngagement ModelOn-site focus:Unit workshops, supervised system-access reviews, validation sessions, final presentationRemote focus:Profiling, analysis, documentation, remediation logic, report preparationTravel:This role may require availability to travel for on-site work with the clientCompensationMXN $35,000 – $40,000 per month, depending on the candidate's skills and experience.
