You Are:

The Senior Portfolio Lead / Portfolio Lead - DPD is a senior role accountable for the strategic, operational, financial, and governance health of an assigned divisional or functional portfolio.

The opportunity:

· Lead and/or matrix-manage a large team of Project Managers and Program Managers assigned to the portfolio

· Set expectations, review delivery quality, unblock escalations, and coach PMs on executive-ready delivery discipline

· Build trusted relationships with divisional/function IT leaders, PMO leadership, business sponsors, Finance, Engineering, Procurement, Quality/Regulatory, site leaders, vendors, and PM teams

· Portfolio Strategy & Governance

· Maintain a clear view of approved AOP scope, active delivery, carryovers, deferred work, walk-ins, unfunded demand, and portfolio priorities

· Run monthly/quarterly portfolio governance cadence, maintain decision/action logs, enforce portfolio hygiene, and ensure portfolio data is leadership-ready

· Operate as the portfolio operations right-hand to the assigned IT leader; keep governance, stakeholder communication, risk visibility, and decision preparation moving

· Ensure compliance with governance frameworks and leadership review cadences

· Financial Stewardship & Reporting

· Assist in managing IT CapEx and OpEx portfolios, including budget, forecast, actuals, variance, AR/CAR status, funding source, and rest-of-year outlook

· Prepare senior leadership reviews with concise narrative, portfolio health, financials, key risks, decisions required, and recommended actions

· Use IT Planview, Engineering Planview, AOP/Smartsheet, ServiceNow, Excel, Power BI, and other systems to build a credible source of truth for portfolio discussions

· Delivery Oversight & Risk Management

· Track project/program health, schedule risk, scope change, dependency conflicts, resource constraints, vendor delivery, and recovery plans across the portfolio

· Manage risk, dependency, issue, and escalation workflows; escalate critical items for senior leadership attention

· Ensure material initiatives define business value, benefit owners, success metrics, adoption needs, and post-implementation validation approach

· Business Case & Value Realization

· Challenge incomplete business cases, weak benefit logic, unsupported financial assumptions, missing sponsors, and unclear risk statements before senior forums

· Make resource, funding,

and sequencing trade-offs visible; present options and consequences rather than accepting every walk-in demand

· Support benefits tracking and value realization across portfolio initiatives

· Data & Decision Preparation

· Prepare decision-ready materials, executive summaries, and portfolio recovery plans

· Create and maintain executive-ready portfolio dashboards and reporting materials

· Ensure accurate, timely portfolio data to support leadership decision-making

This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.

What you need:

· 10+ years of experience across portfolio management, program management, PMO leadership, technology delivery, or business transformation

· Demonstrated ability to govern USD 15M-25M technology or transformation portfolios, preferably across multiple programs and project teams

· Strong experience managing CapEx, OpEx, budget, actuals, forecast, variance, funding approvals, business cases, AR/CAR processes, and benefits tracking

· Experience leading or matrix-managing multiple PMs/PgMs across complex delivery portfolios

· Experience preparing executive-ready portfolio reports, senior leadership review materials, decision memos, and recovery plans

· Strong stakeholder management experience in global, matrixed organizations with ability to influence senior leaders without direct authority

· Experience with portfolio systems (Planview, Clarity, Smartsheet, ServiceNow, Jira, Power BI, or equivalent tools)

· Core Skills & Competencies

· Executive communication and storytelling with data

· Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and portfolio dashboarding capability

· Financial analysis and portfolio variance explanation

· AOP planning, portfolio prioritization, and demand trade-off analysis

· Project/program delivery governance across waterfall, agile, and hybrid methods

· Risk, dependency, issue, and escalation management expertise

· PM coaching, vendor coordination, and cross-functional leadership

· Ability to work through imperfect data without creating false precision

· Preferred Qualifications

· Life sciences, pharma, manufacturing, supply chain, clinical, quality/regulatory, or similarly controlled industry experience
