Teacher

Assistants contribute significantly to the high-quality education we offer our students. TAs are assigned to one classroom for the school year and work closely with the classroom teacher, developing close relationships with the students and understanding their individual strengths and weaknesses. They support the classroom teacher in planning and implementing the best possible program for the class.

Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce concepts introduced by the teacher. Alert the teacher to problems or special information about individual students. Direct parent concerns to teacher and refrain from discussing students with parents unless asked by the teacher.

Speak

English to students in the classroom and at recess,



except during kinder Spanish class or when translating for the teacher. Assist in preparing materials for projects and keeping the classroom neat and clean. Check student work and show initiative in suggesting projects.

Serve as a substitute teacher in the teacher's absence, adhering to the established routine. Refrain from interrupting the teaching process, saving personal observations and comments for a time when children are not waiting for instruction. Perform recess and morning duty effectively, arriving promptly for recess duty, and maintain a caring attitude toward students and parents.

Qualities and Skills: Strong oral and writing skills in English. Genuine interest and love for teaching.
