At Collis de México, we're looking for a hands-on New Projects Engineer to lead the industrialization of new products within our metal-mechanical manufacturing operations, with a strong focus on welding, plating, tooling, and process validation. About the Role The New Projects Engineer will be responsible for executing new product launch activities from design review through PPAP approval and production implementation. This position ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with customer requirements and quality standards.

Responsibilities

- Lead new product launches from development through PPAP approval
- Review technical drawings and customer specifications to ensure manufacturability
- Define machinery, tooling, fixtures, and equipment requirements for production
- Design and validate manufacturing fixtures and jigs
- Coordinate pilot runs, process trials, and production validation activities
- Develop and document process parameters and manufacturing standards
- Prepare production samples and support PPAP submissions
- Coordinate production line transfers, including equipment installation and commissioning
- Train production personnel on new processes and quality standards
- Participate in RFQs, project planning, and industrialization cost analyses
- Optimize plant layouts and production flow




- Conduct capability studies and production feasibility assessments
- Ensure compliance with welding and galvanizing process standards
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality and efficiency

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field
- Advanced English proficiency required

Required Skills

- 3 to 5 years of experience in product development, project engineering, or industrialization within the metal-mechanical industry
- Experience launching new products into production environments
- Strong knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, Resistance Welding, etc.)
- Experience with galvanizing and plating processes

Preferred Skills

- APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans
- GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Tooling and fixture design
- SPC and process capability analysis
- Lean Manufacturing, SMED, Kanban, JIT, and Poka-Yoke
- Six Sigma, Kaizen, and 8D methodologies
- Process validation and production trials
- Advanced blueprint interpretation
- Metal-mechanical manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of strip die design
- Software: SolidWorks, AutoCAD 2D/3D, Advanced Microsoft Excel, ERP systems (preferred)
