We’re looking for an experienced Backend and Infrastructure Engineer to support critical production services running on Google Cloud Platform. You’ll take ownership of deployments, reliability, production incidents, and technical support across highly concurrent systems.

This is a remote, three-month freelance engagement for engineers based in Latin America.

What You’ll Do

- Manage and monitor production deployments across GCP-based services.

- Maintain the reliability, uptime, and performance of distributed workloads.

- Debug and resolve backend, infrastructure, and deployment issues.

- Support runner and packaging systems operating on Google Cloud Run.

- Maintain and improve a customer-specific quality-control service.

- Troubleshoot failures across highly concurrent workloads and large Kubernetes environments.

- Respond independently to technical and operational questions.

- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams on incident resolution and service improvements.

- Document recurring issues, fixes, deployment procedures,



and operational runbooks.

Requirements

- 5+ years of hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering, backend engineering, or production systems.

- Strong production experience with Google Cloud Platform, particularly Cloud Run and related services.

- Advanced Python backend development experience, including debugging and maintaining production services.

- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, containerized workloads, SQL databases, and distributed systems.

- Experience operating highly concurrent production workloads.

- Ability to independently manage deployments, production incidents, and bug fixes.

- Strong written and spoken English.

Engagement Details

- Remote freelance engagement.

- Expected duration of approximately three months.

- Immediate start.

- Availability for 8 hours per day, with at least 6 hours of overlap with Pacific Time.

Compensation

$30 USD per hour.
