JOB DESCRIPTION
HR Payroll Manager / Semi-Senior Payroll Coordinator – Mexico
Location: Mexico| Employment Type: Full-Time | Level: Manager / Semi-Senior
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced HR Payroll Manager / Semi-Senior Payroll Coordinator to manage and coordinate end-to-end payroll operations in Mexico. The role will ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while serving as a key point of contact for employees, HR, Finance, external payroll providers, and internal stakeholders. The adecuado candidate combines strong Mexican payroll knowledge with excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and/or manage the end-to-end monthly and biweekly payroll process for employees in Mexico.
Validate payroll inputs including salaries, bonuses, commissions, overtime, absences, vacations, terminations, and other variable compensation.
Ensure payroll calculations comply with Mexican labor, tax, and social security requirements, including ISR, IMSS, INFONAVIT, and FONACOT where applicable.
Review payroll calculations, reconciliations, payroll reports, and payment files before final approval.
Coordinate payroll calendars, cut-off dates, approvals, and payment deadlines with HR, Finance, Treasury, and external providers.
Maintain accurate employee payroll records and ensure confidentiality of payroll and personal information.
Support onboarding, offboarding, salary changes, promotions, transfers, and other employee lifecycle transactions affecting payroll.
Coordinate the preparation and review of statutory reports, payroll taxes, social security obligations, and related filings.
Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee questions, and payment issues in a timely and professional manner.
Work closely with HRIS, payroll, Finance,



and technology teams to maintain data integrity and improve payroll processes.
Support payroll audits and provide documentation, reconciliations, and evidence requested by internal or external auditors.
Identify opportunities to automate, standardize, and improve payroll processes, controls, and reporting.
Prepare management reports and payroll metrics, including payroll variance analysis, headcount changes, and exception reporting.
Stay current with changes to Mexican payroll, labor, tax, and social security regulations and assess their operational impact.
Required Qualifications
~ Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
~4+ years of experience in payroll, HR operations, compensation & benefits, or a related function in Mexico.
~ Solid practical knowledge of Mexican payroll regulations and statutory obligations.
~ Hands-on experience with payroll processing, reconciliation, employee data validation, and payroll reporting.
~ Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and data analysis.
~ Experience working with HRIS, payroll platforms, ERP systems, or payroll service providers.
~ Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, confidentiality, and ability to meet strict deadlines.
~ Strong written and verbal communication skills in Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications




Experience supporting payroll for 100+ employees or multi-entity organizations.
Experience with multinational companies and regional LATAM payroll operations.
Experience with payroll outsourcing providers or managed payroll services.
Knowledge of HRIS integrations and payroll data interfaces.
Intermediate English for communication with regional or global teams.
Experience with payroll process improvement, automation, controls, or implementation projects.
