We are seeking a Mechanical/Aerospace Design Engineer with strong engineering fundamentals and hands‑on knowledge of aerospace product development, manufacturing processes and field/service findings.

The ideal candidate will be capable of working on hardware with varying levels of definition, translating engineering requirements into practical design solutions, evaluating design concepts, and supporting products throughout the engineering development cycle.

The Lead engineer will support and lead multiple projects and collaborate closely with design, stress, materials, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and test organizations. The position requires strong technical judgment, problem‑solving skills, and the ability to independently develop and communicate engineering solutions.

Job Duties:

Develop and evaluate mechanical designs for aircraft engine components and systems.

Support the complete product development cycle, from requirements definition and conceptual design through preliminary design, detailed design, manufacturing, assembly, testing, and product maturity.

Develop engineering concepts considering structural integrity, functionality, durability, weight, producibility, maintainability, cost, and schedule.

Perform and/or support mechanical engineering analyses and hand calculations, including static strength, stiffness, load paths, thermal effects, fatigue/durability, fastener joints, bearing/bushing interfaces, and tolerance effects.

Evaluate mechanical interfaces and component interactions, including clearances, fits, tolerances, joints, attachment features, and assembly conditions.

Apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T;) principles and perform basic dimensional/tolerance stack-up evaluations.

Select and evaluate materials and manufacturing processes based on mechanical performance, operating environment, durability, producibility, and cost.

Incorporate manufacturing and inspection requirements into product definition, drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.

Apply product definition criteria considering Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), producibility, product capable of being inspected, and maintainability.

Support manufacturing and supplier organizations in resolving design and process‑related issues.

Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of mechanical failures, nonconformances, manufacturing issues, and field/service findings.

Support engineering investigations involving dimensional discrepancies, material/process deviations, wear, deformation, cracking, fatigue, and component damage.

Support hardware build, inspection, testing, and validation activities and use test/manufacturing data to improve the design.

Generate and review engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, technical reports, engineering dispositions, presentations, and design reviews.

Communicate technical information effectively to internal teams, external customers, suppliers, and regulatory organizations.

Track project progress, identify technical risks, and support execution to meet quality, technical, cost, and schedule objectives.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor"s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Five or more years of engineering experience, preferably in aircraft engine, turbomachinery, aerospace, or other highly regulated mechanical products.

Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including:

o Statics and mechanics of materials

o Strength of materials

o Stress and structural concepts

o Load paths and structural load definition

o Fatigue and durability fundamentals

o Thermal effects and thermal expansion

o Mechanical joints and fasteners

o Fits, clearances, and interfaces

o Materials and material selection

Demonstrated experience with aerospace mechanical design and/or analysis, preferably engine external hardware.

Strong knowledge of GD&T;, engineering drawings, tolerance stack-ups, and dimensional requirements.

Working knowledge of aerospace manufacturing and inspection processes, including machining, casting, forging, sheet metal fabrication, welding/brazing, composite manufacturing, and/or assembly processes.

Skilled in evaluating the relationship between design requirements, material selection, manufacturing processes, inspection methods,

and component performance.

Experience supporting engineering problems through root cause analysis, corrective action, and design/process improvement.

Ability to interpret engineering requirements, specifications, drawings, manufacturing documentation, and inspection data.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, preferably while performing engineering calculations and support to make sound technical decisions with incomplete or evolving information.

Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and verbal.

Ability to work independently and effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment, in office work environment.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

Experience with commercial aircraft engines manufacturers or other gas turbine engine products.

Experience with engine externals, turbomachinery structures, mechanical systems, or rotating/static engine hardware.
