Serve as a trusted legal advisor to the Logistics & Services business, providing strategic, commercially focused, and practical legal support across a broad range of logistics, transportation, customs, supply chain, and maritime activities. The role partners closely with business stakeholders to enable growth, manage legal and regulatory risks, support complex commercial transactions, handle disputes and claims, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and company policies. The position also supports broader corporate, operational, governance, and strategic initiatives as required within a dynamic in-house legal environment.
Responsibilities
- 1. Provide legal support for commercial contracting activities, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on customer and vendor agreements.
- 2. Advise on logistics and transportation services, including trucking, cross-border operations, customs brokerage, warehousing, supply chain management (SCM), 4PL, freight forwarding, and maritime-related services.
- 3. Support business development and product teams in the design, launch, and implementation of new logistics and supply chain solutions.
- 4. Provide regulatory advice on transportation, customs, trade, logistics, maritime, and other applicable legal frameworks.
- 5. Advise business stakeholders on legal risk allocation, liability, indemnities, insurance matters, and dispute resolution strategies.
- 6. Support the management of customer and vendor claims, cargo loss and damage matters, operational incidents, and litigation matters in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- 7. Provide legal guidance on corporate, governance, compliance, ethics, and policy-related matters affecting the business.
- 8. Manage external counsel and coordinate legal support across multiple jurisdictions when required.
- 9. Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, legal guidance,
and best practices to drive consistency and efficiency.
- 10. Deliver legal training and awareness programs and promote a strong compliance and risk-management culture.
- 11. Support internal investigations, audits, regulatory inquiries, and interactions with governmental authorities as required.
- 12. Act as a strategic business partner by providing practical, solution-oriented legal advice in support of commercial, operational, and corporate objectives.
Requirements
- 7+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably combining in-house and private practice experience.
- Significant experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
- Experience supporting logistics, transportation, customs brokerage, freight forwarding, warehousing, supply chain management (SCM), 4PL, cross-border operations, maritime services, or related industries.
- Experience advising on regulatory, compliance, and operational matters affecting logistics and transportation businesses.
- Experience handling claims, disputes, litigation management, and interactions with external counsel.
- Strong understanding of risk allocation, liability regimes, indemnities, insurance provisions, and dispute resolution mechanisms.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with business stakeholders and provide pragmatic, commercially minded legal advice in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (Licenciatura en Derecho).
- Licensed attorney and authorized to practice law in Mexico (Cédula Cualificado required).
- Solid academic foundation in commercial, corporate, contractual, and civil law.
- Knowledge of legal frameworks applicable to logistics, transportation, customs, international trade, supply chain, and maritime operations.
- Professional proficiency in English and Spanish, including the ability to negotiate, draft, and review legal documents in both languages.
