We are seeking a skilledCOBOL Developerwith strong experience inMicro Focus COBOLto support and enhance batch-oriented applications running in a modern cloud-based environment.This role differs from traditional mainframe COBOL positions—you will be working inAWS Work Spaces on Linux , focusing onbatch processing systems , rather than legacy mainframe technologies such as JCL, DB2, or CICS.
The adecuado candidate is comfortable working in distributed environments and has experience building and maintaining reliable batch workflows.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintainCOBOL applicationsusingMicro Focus COBOL.Build, enhance, and supportbatch processing systemsand workflows.Troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing batch jobs and data processing pipelines.Work withinAWS Work Spaces (Linux-based environments)for development and deployment.Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.Optimize batch jobs forperformance, reliability, and scalability.Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, Dev Ops, and business stakeholders.Maintain clear documentation for processes, code,



and system behavior.Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.Required Qualifications3–5+ years of experience inCOBOL development.Strong hands-on experience with:Micro Focus COBOLBatch processing systems(job scheduling, data processing, file handling)Experience working inLinux environments(navigation, scripting basics, file systems).
Familiarity withAWS Work Spacesor similar cloud-based development environments.Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.Nice to Have (Not Required)Experience withAWS servicesor cloud-native environments.Familiarity withshell scripting(Bash or similar).
Experience withfile-based data processingand integrations.Exposure to modern Dev Ops practices or version control systems (Git).
