Title: Network Engineer
Location: Guadalajara, Mexico (Onsite)
Duration: Fulltime
Role Overview The Networks Engineer – Wi-Fi Technology is a dedicated wireless specialist responsible for resolving wireless access issues across THE CLIENT's estate, including the operational technology (OT) network environments within manufacturing plants and warehouses. The role is focused on access point health, service restoration and wireless coverage quality.
One position is being established in Mexico.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dedicated responsibility for handling wireless access issues across the THE CLIENT estate.
- Handling network latching issues for wireless access points.
- Handling issues emerging in OT network devices relating to access, signal strength, dark spots and dropped connections.
- Access point health monitoring, restart and service restoration.
- Supporting the ongoing project to swap Cisco access points for Juniper access points, expected to complete by end of 2026.
Environment & Engagement Context
- Juniper MIST is the go-forward wireless standard. The estate is currently mixed, with Cisco Meraki and Cisco Aironet access points still in place pending the refresh.
- The Cisco-to-Juniper access point swap programme is expected to conclude by end of 2026. THE CLIENT plans to retain the existing project participants until the projects are concluded, so no additional project support is required from this role beyond business-as-usual operations.
- The Network team is supported by the Client Services team, which handles last-mile networking, servers, the OT environment and end-user device issues. Client Services staff understand PLCs and manufacturing equipment, cover Ethernet, basic networking and basic wireless, and manage iPads and handheld devices. This role therefore focuses on wireless engineering depth rather than first-line device support.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 4–7 years of experience in enterprise wireless network engineering and operations.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-managed wireless platforms — Juniper MIST and Cisco Meraki strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting legacy Cisco Aironet access points and controller-based WLAN architectures.
- Strong practical troubleshooting capability for wireless client association and authentication (latching) issues, roaming, co-channel interference and coverage gaps.
- Experience conducting wireless site surveys and heat mapping to identify and remediate dark spots.
- Working knowledge of 802.11 standards, RF fundamentals, 802.1X and WPA2/WPA3 enterprise authentication.
- Experience supporting wireless in industrial, warehouse or manufacturing settings, including awareness of OT network sensitivities.
- Familiarity with barcode scanners and handheld devices as wireless clients (for example Zebra scan guns).
- Professional working proficiency in English and Spanish.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior involvement in a large-scale access point refresh or vendor migration programme.
- Understanding of IT/OT network segmentation and the firewall boundary between IT and OT.
- Exposure to AI-driven wireless assurance tooling such as Juniper Mist AI / Marvis.
- Willingness to travel to plant and warehouse sites as required.
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
- CWNA (Certified Wireless Network Administrator) or Cisco CCNA Wireless / equivalent (desirable).
- Juniper Mist AI certification (desirable).
Best Regards,
Manohar Swamy
