The Gund Company: Take Care of Each Other, Take Care of the Customer and Take Care of the BusinessJob SummaryImplement the Production Fulfillment Process steps related to the manufacture of thermoset composite materials by operating manufacturing equipment that includes presses, forming, extrusion, pultrusion and/or shape machines.
Ensures machinery is set up, works properly, and conforms with (and can produce materials that conform with) company quality, quantity, and efficiency standards.
Sets up and operates one or more composites production lines under limited supervision to manufacture products of moderate complexity.Duties also involve manual work and duties that require the use of various hand tools and secondary/accessory equipment.Essential Job Functions:Form molded sheets and shapes of materials using various manufacturing equipment:Adjust machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, and temperatures, and amounts, dimensions, and flow of materials or ingredients.Monitor machine operations and observe lights and gauges to detect malfunctionsReview work orders, specifications, or instructions to determine materials, ingredients, procedures, components, settings, and adjustments for pultrusion and molding pressesMeasure raw material and die dimensions to verify sizes specified on work ticketsUse Scale, Weighing, and Mixing procedures to add resin & filler to prep resin for molding, pressing or shaping processNotify team leadership when raw materials fail to meet standardsInstall, align, and adjust die alignment, holding bars and spacers.Set up tooling, load programs and set machine parameters to ensure optimal equipment performance, including stop block shimming, shear bar changes and machine parameter entryActivate machines to shape or form sheets and/or shape insulation products by pressing control buttons to activate equipmentManufacture molded glass polyester sheets by laying up material to the desired thickness and spreading resin according to customer orders per instructions on customer work ordersRemove molds, mold components,



and hold down bars from machinery during or after production is completeRemove materials or products from molds or from forming or pressing machines and stack or store them for additional processing.Trim/file and de-flash molded sheet edges and perform measuring and material inspectionsPerform in-process inspection according to standard proceduresRecord and maintain production data, such as tolerance readings, and quantities, types, and defects of materials producedClean dies and molds, using scrapers, brushes, scotch pads or air hosesMove materials, supplies, components, and finished products between storage and work areas, using work aids such as carts, forklifts and hand trucksMaintain count and perform packaging duties as requiredParticipate in cross training to become knowledgeable of equipment/process within the departmentPerform routine daily machine maintenance including cleaning up and lubricationMaintain a clean and organized work areaProvide guidance, feedback and positive behavior modeling The Gund Company culture of care:Determine if tools are undamaged and in safe condition for useMake suggestions to improve production and order processing efficiencyFollow safety rules and quality standardsModel ethical and moral behavior consistent with the values and ideals supported by The Gund CompanyRequirementsQualifications and CompetenciesProduction and Processing-Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.Mechanical- Knowledge of machines and tools including designs, uses, repair & maintenanceComputers & Electronics-Knowledge of machine controls, electronic equipment to include hardware/software and applicationsActive Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problemsQuality Control Analysis — Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.Troubleshooting — Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.Education and ExperienceA High School Diploma or GED with prior hands on,



vocational or job-related course work/training, or any similar combination of education and experience is required.Prior experience in a manufacturing industry with mixing, batching or compounding equipment is preferred.Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
The employee may be required to sit and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is regularly required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lb.
