Production Manager

Location: Querétaro MX

Department: Manufacturing

Reports to: Managing/Technical Director – Auto-Motion Shade Canada

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Production Manager to lead the day-to-day manufacturing operations at our Mexico facility.

This role will be responsible for ensuring production activities are completed safely, efficiently, and according to established production schedules, work orders, engineering documentation, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and quality standards.

The Production Manager will lead the production team, optimize the use of labor and equipment, monitor manufacturing performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The position will work closely with Quality, Engineering, Operations, and Planning teams in Canada to ensure production objectives are consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities

Production Operations

- Execute daily and weekly production schedules.
- Ensure production orders are completed on time and meet customer delivery requirements.
- Coordinate production priorities based on work orders and business requirements.
- Monitor production output, productivity, and efficiency.
- Identify and resolve issues that may impact production performance or delivery.
- Ensure compliance with work instructions, engineering drawings, BOMs, SOPs, and established manufacturing processes.
- Maintain accurate production records and reports.

Leadership & Team Management

- Lead, supervise, and develop production personnel and team leaders.
- Assign daily responsibilities and establish production priorities.
- Coordinate the activities of production operators and material handlers.
- Train employees on manufacturing processes, safety procedures, and company standards.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance follow-up.
- Participate in employee interviews and selection processes in coordination with Human Resources.

Quality

- Ensure production personnel consistently follow approved manufacturing processes and work instructions.




- Work closely with the Quality Manager to address production-related quality issues.
- Support containment activities and corrective actions.
- Escalate significant quality concerns in a timely manner.
- Participate in initiatives focused on improving product quality and manufacturing performance.

Materials & Equipment

- Supervise material handling activities and ensure materials are available at production workstations.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
- Monitor material consumption and report shortages or operational risks.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance activities.
- Follow up on equipment failures and minimize production downtime.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and productivity.

Safety & Continuous Improvement

- Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with company safety policies.
- Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Participate in the investigation and follow-up of production-related safety incidents.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste, scrap, downtime, and manufacturing costs.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Root Cause Analysis, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Participate in the implementation of engineering and process changes.

Communication & Reporting

- Maintain regular communication with Auto-Motion Shade Canada Operations.
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
- Communicate production delays, equipment issues, staffing concerns, and operational risks.
- Collaborate closely with Quality, Engineering, Planning, and Operations teams to achieve production objectives.

Requirements





- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing leadership roles.
- Proven experience supervising production teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Continuous Improvement.
- Knowledge of manufacturing KPIs and operational performance metrics.
- Experience using ERP or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience in automotive or industrial manufacturing is preferred.
- Experience working in a Maquiladora or Shelter operation is a plus.
- Advanced English required due to regular communication with teams in Canada.
