About MAVI
MAVI places experienced finance and accounting professionals into senior, high-ownership roles at high-growth US companies.
We maintain a deliberately high bar on both sides of the placement.
The companies we partner with are venture-backed and private equity-backed businesses building modern finance organizations, and the professionals we represent are operators with a track record of owning the numbers rather than supporting them from a distance.
The roles we place are embedded positions within the finance function itself.
Our professionals work alongside founders, CEOs, and senior leadership on the work that determines whether a business can close its books with confidence, satisfy its auditors, raise its next round, and scale.
Our team has built and scaled finance functions at companies including Lyft, Ramp, and Soft Bank.
We remain closely involved throughout the relationship, from role alignment and interview preparation through onboarding, placement, and long-term career development.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Head Accountant to own the finance function of a high-growth US company, working remotely from LATAM.
This is the senior finance seat in the business, and it remains substantively hands-on.
You will be accountable for the accuracy of the financials, the close, the audit, and the controls, and you will carry that ownership through into planning, forecasting, cash management, and the finance infrastructure the company needs in order to keep growing.
You will also be the person who builds the close checklist, investigates the variance through to its root cause, and replaces the processes that are no longer serving the business.
You will work directly with the founders, CEO, and leadership team.
A significant part of the role is translating financial information into clear recommendations that people outside finance can act on.
Because you will be the most senior finance person in the company and located outside the United States, the role calls for someone who operates well with autonomy, communicates proactively rather than on request, and can hold both the detail and the strategic picture without a layer above them to catch what falls through.
What You'll Own
Accounting and Controls
The close.
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, with full accountability for the calendar, the quality of the output, and the cycle time.
The financial statements.
Own the P& L, balance sheet, and cash flow statement outright, and stand behind the numbers in front of the CEO and the board.
The accounting team and partners.
Lead the accounting team and manage external accounting, tax, and finance partners, holding each to agreed standards and deadlines.
Policies and controls.
Establish and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, approval workflows, and reporting standards appropriate to the company's stage.
Multi-entity accounting.
Own multi-entity accounting and consolidation across the group structure.
Audit.
Lead the annual audit or review, including auditor management, PBC preparation, and resolution of findings through to close-out.
Tax compliance.
Coordinate US federal, state, and local tax compliance with external CPA firms.
Planning and Strategic Finance Budgeting and forecasting.
Lead the annual budget, rolling forecasts, long-range planning, and headcount planning.
Financial modelling.
Build and maintain the models behind pricing, hiring, compensation, investment, and other strategic decisions.
Reporting to leadership.
Prepare and present monthly and quarterly reporting to the CEO, leadership team, and board.
Business partnership.
Work with department leaders on performance, spend, margins, hiring, and the decisions that move the numbers.
Fundraising support.
Support fundraising and investor diligence, including models, historical financials, data rooms, and investor requests.
Cash and Risk Cash and runway.
Manage the company's cash position, liquidity, and runway, including a maintained 13-week cash flow forecast.
Working capital.
Monitor burn, working capital, collections, and significant upcoming payments.
Banking.
Manage banking relationships and payment approval processes.
Risk.
Identify financial and operational risks early — runway, customer concentration, collections, covenant exposure — and work with leadership on mitigation.
Systems and Scale Finance systems roadmap.
Lead ERP selection and implementation, AP and expense automation, and reporting infrastructure.
Process design.
Build finance processes that improve accuracy, visibility, and efficiency as the company grows, rather than processes that break at the next stage.
