You'll join the Global Compliance Operations team, helping brands reach new customers in new markets by supporting Passport's General Compliance service offerings. Your focus will be Customs Data Review, HS Classification, and ensuring quality customs data from end to end.

Must-Haves

- Based in or near Mexico City, Guadalajara, or Monterrey — the role is 100% remote, but you'll join occasional in-person team gatherings
- Fluent English (written & spoken)
- 1+ years of experience in HTS classification, customs compliance, or international logistics
- Understanding of duties/taxes, country of origin (COO),



and Free Trade Agreements

The Basics

- Contract: Indefinite, full-time independent contractor, paid in USD. The monthly fee is the full compensation — this contract does not include paid time off, sick days, holidays, or equity, and you are responsible for your own taxes and benefits.
- Compensation: $2,000 – $3,000 USD/month, depending on experience
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. or 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. (Mexico City time), collaborating with teams in US time zones
- Equipment: You provide your own computer and reliable internet
- Location: 100% remote, with occasional in-person gatherings in Mexico City, Guadalajara, or Monterrey
- Scope: Operations role on the Global Compliance team — you'll work cross-functionally and communicate with both internal and external audiences

What You'll Do

- HTS classification: Classify products from brand catalogs, Shopify stores, and internal requests, assigning accurate HTS/HS codes.
- Resolve customs holds and compliance concerns: Investigate shipments held at customs and other compliance issues, and drive them to resolution.
- Duty rate maintenance: Keep duty rates accurate and up to date.
- Product rules: Maintain customs descriptions,



HS codes, and country of origin (COO) data for brand catalogs.
- Country-level regulations: Review destination-country regulations and restrictions and flag what affects brands' shipments.
- Customs manifests: Manage customs manifests for export.
- Product and industry expertise: Become an expert on the Passport product while keeping up with industry trends and news.

What You Bring

- 1+ years of work experience with HTS classification
- 1+ years of international logistics experience
- Understanding of duties/taxes, country of origin (COO), and Free Trade Agreements
- Ability to manage data entry projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills — you can explain complex problems clearly and concisely to different internal and external audiences (executives, marketers, engineers, sales, individual contributors)
- Willingness to take on any task, big or small
- Self-motivated team player who works cross-functionally and can multi-task
- Resourceful — you might not have all the answers, but you know how to find them or who to ask for help
- Creative problem-solving skills that you want to apply in an ever-evolving environment
