The Plastic Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and optimization of plastic components for manufacturing. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure product designs meet functional, quality, cost, and manufacturability requirements while supporting new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop plastic components and assemblies using CAD software.

Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to optimize product performance and manufacturability.

Collaborate with Manufacturing, Tooling, Quality, and Product Engineering teams throughout the product development process.

Support mold design reviews and provide recommendations to improve part quality and manufacturability.

Select appropriate plastic materials based on product requirements and application.

Create and maintain 2D drawings, 3D models, and engineering documentation.

Participate in design reviews, prototype evaluations, and product validation activities.





Analyze design issues and implement engineering changes when required.

Support new product introductions (NPI) from concept through production launch.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Plastics Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related field.

3+ years of experience in plastic product or component design.

Experience designing parts for injection molding.

Proficiency in CAD software such as Solid Works, CATIA, Creo, or NX.

Strong understanding of plastic materials, injection molding processes, and mold design considerations.

Knowledge of GD&T; and engineering drawing standards.

Experience with DFM, DFA, tolerance analysis, and product validation.

Automotive or electronics manufacturing experience is preferred.

Advanced English communication skills.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
