For more information, visit The Legal Counsel will support the Intellectual Assets Legal Counsel within the Intellectual Assets (IP) Unit of the Legal Department, providing legal assistance on intellectual property, research collaborations, and technology transfer activities. The role supports the contract life cycle management of agreements related to CIMMYT's research and innovation activities and contributes to the implementation of CIMMYT's intellectual assets policies. Working closely with scientific and operational teams,



the position will assist in analyzing and addressing legal matters related to intellectual property, plant genetic resources, and the use and dissemination of research outputs. Participate in the development and improvement of legal processes, guidelines, and internal procedures related to the legal services provided by the Legal Department. Requirements Four (4) years of professional legal experience involving intellectual property, research collaboration, or commercial/corporate law within a company, research organization, or law firm. Exposure or familiarity with legal frameworks governing plant genetic resources, including the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA), the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the Nagoya Protocol, or national legislation on access to genetic resources will be considered an advantage.
