Burns & McDonnell is actively recruiting a Senior Structural Engineer to join this segment of our growing business.
This position requires an experienced structural engineer capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation, modification, and innovation of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
The Senior Structural
Engineer will lead the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting structural plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.. Provide leadership to discipline team and ensure that the project deadlines are met. Lead structural design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.
Prepare structural equipment: packaged equipment specifications and data sheets, Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations. data interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, detailers, and designers. Participate in the development of project schedule, scope, budget, staffing planning, and construction planning. Applies knowledge and experience to complex projects, finds non-standard design solutions.
Quality review production drawings for a variety of projects and project-related data as required by the project managers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD software.
Quality review the construction administration including coordination with field personnel to resolve design-related installation issues, calculations, field inspections, and testing of materials. Leads field inspections, installation, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
Build effective relationships with existing clients, customers, and contractors and develop new business opportunities. Inform design teams on local codes and best practices. Lead the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance.
Prepare and present project budgets and cost estimates. Report project performance. Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the structural engineering practice. Responsible for QA/QC process adherence.
Responsible for effective communication with other engineering disciplines. Adhere to Burns & McDonnell’s safety programs, training, and policies, as well as promote and manage the Safety & Health performance of project team members and subcontractors. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an engineering program. ~ Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering. 7 years of structural engineering experience. ~ EPC project experience preferred. ~ Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish required. ~ Engineering License to practice in Mexico required.
Must be capable of sealing engineering plans. ~ Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures. IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE7, local and national Mexico codes). ~ Expert software and computer skills required including AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Coordination Programs, and Microsoft Professional Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). ~ Experience with leading a discipline design team for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members. Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications. ~ Data center or telecommunication facility experience preferred. ~
