Job description
At
NOVACARD , we’re redefining how people use credit. We are the
first interest-free and no-annual-fee credit card in Mexico ,
designed to simplify personal finances and give users complete control — all from a mobile app. With NOVACARD, users only pay when they use it and can manage everything digitally. Our mission is to empower people to make smarter financial decisions by offering flexibility, transparency, and the freedom they need to reach their goals. Simple finances, big goals.
About the Role: We are looking for a
Deputy CFO
to act as the CFO’s direct strategic and operational partner and serve as a full deputy across finance workstreams when required. This is a senior finance leadership role with a strong focus on strengthening NOVACARD’s analytical core —
budgeting, financial modeling, and unit economics
— while also overseeing management reporting, credit portfolio analytics, treasury and liquidity, and finance team development. You will combine hands-on analytical ownership with senior-level financial leadership, helping translate business and portfolio dynamics into clear financial decisions. The role requires a highly structured finance leader who can build scalable planning and reporting processes, challenge assumptions, maintain rigorous data integrity, and partner effectively with Product, Risk, Marketing, Operations, Legal, investors, and senior management.
Key Responsibilities: Own the
annual budgeting and rolling forecast process
across revenue, OPEX, CAPEX, and headcount, including monthly re-forecasting and scenario updates.
Build and maintain a robust
budget-to-vigente framework , connecting operational and portfolio drivers — including card issuance, activation, portfolio growth,
DPD/NPL trends, and credit losses — to P&L;, balance sheet, and cash flow outcomes.
Deliver monthly
variance and root-cause analysis , identifying deterioration or upside early and translating financial insights into clear management actions.
Continuously improve and automate FP&A; processes through standardized templates, driver-based budgeting, stronger data flows, and shorter planning cycles.
Build and stress-test
base, downside, and stress scenarios , including their impact on profitability, funding requirements, liquidity, and runway.
Own and continuously refine
unit economics models
by product, customer cohort, and vintage, ensuring economics remain current as the business and portfolio scale.
Develop financial models for
new products, pricing changes, and strategic initiatives , including sensitivity, break-even, NPV/IRR, and cost-of-capital analysis.
Integrate
credit losses, Co R, ECL/IFRS 9, funding costs, and processing/platform expenses
into a defensible view of portfolio profitability per card, cohort, and vintage.
Maintain high standards of
data quality, reconciliation, and traceability
across financial models and management reporting, documenting limitations and developing defensible proxies where required.
Prepare monthly
management reporting
covering P&L;, balance sheet, cash flow, waterfall analyses,
portfolio economics, and key business drivers for HQ, investors, and the executive team.
Ensure material discrepancies are investigated and resolved before external reporting, and maintain clear disclosure of
related-party versus third-party transactions.
Own
credit portfolio yield and performance analytics
in partnership with the CRO function, including yield, APR proxy, DPD buckets, NPL/Co R, vintage curves, and cohort performance.
Deliver cohort and vintage analysis to support
pricing, risk appetite, provisioning, and portfolio management decisions.
Oversee the
13-week rolling cash flow model , liquidity scenarios, and runway analysis, acting as first-line reviewer and approver on behalf of the CFO when required.
Monitor liquidity across banks and payment platforms and serve as
second-level authorization
within the payment approval framework.
Provide day-to-day leadership and mentoring to the finance organization across
FP&A;, Accounting, Treasury, and Data Analytics , setting clear standards for quality, timeliness, and documentation.
Partner with Product, Risk, Marketing, Operations, and Legal to embed
unit economics and financial discipline
into product, pricing, and strategic decisions from the outset.
Participate in finance systems strategy, including
ERP selection, system integrations, process automation, and financial data infrastructure.
Act as the
CFO’s proxy
when required, including interactions with HQ, investors, external advisors, and preparation of board-level materials.
All done!
