VoIP Engineer
Location: Mexico – Remote
Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role
We are looking for a VoIP Engineer to join our team and support the implementation, administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Voice over IP (VoIP) and Unified Communications environments.
The adecuado candidate has a strong foundation in networking and telecommunications, hands-on experience with VoIP technologies, and a solid understanding of SIP-based communications. This person will help ensure reliable, secure, and high-quality voice services while collaborating with technical teams, carriers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, administer, monitor, and troubleshoot VoIP and Unified Communications environments.
- Manage and support SIP trunks, call routing, dial plans, voice gateways, and Session Border Controllers (SBCs).
- Troubleshoot voice quality and connectivity issues, including latency, jitter, packet loss, dropped calls, one-way audio, and codec-related problems.
- Analyze SIP signaling and RTP traffic to identify and resolve technical issues.
- Support PBX, cloud telephony, and hybrid voice environments.
- Monitor voice infrastructure performance, availability, and call quality.
- Configure and maintain routing rules, extensions, DIDs, call queues, and related telephony services.
- Coordinate with telecom carriers and vendors regarding SIP trunking, number provisioning, connectivity, and service incidents.
- Assist with VoIP deployments, migrations, upgrades, and infrastructure changes.
- Collaborate with Network, Infrastructure, Security, and IT teams to ensure reliable end-to-end voice connectivity.
- Document configurations, network diagrams, troubleshooting procedures, and technical changes.
- Participate in root-cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in VoIP, Telecommunications, Network Engineering,
Unified Communications, or a related technical role.
- Strong understanding of VoIP technologies and SIP-based communications.
- Hands-on knowledge of SIP, RTP, SRTP, TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, NAT, VLANs, and QoS.
- Experience troubleshooting VoIP call flows and voice quality issues.
- Experience working with SIP trunks, PBX systems, voice gateways, or SBCs.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and how network performance impacts voice services.
- Experience with troubleshooting and network analysis tools such as Wireshark or similar platforms.
- Ability to diagnose complex technical issues and perform root-cause analysis.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- English proficiency sufficient to communicate effectively in a professional and technical environment.
Nice to Have
Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:
- Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)
- Microsoft Teams Phone / Direct Routing
- Cisco CUBE
- AudioCodes, Ribbon, Oracle/Acme Packet, or other SBC platforms
- Asterisk, FreePBX, or similar PBX technologies
- Cisco Webex
- Zoom Phone
- Contact Center / CCaaS platforms
- Microsoft 365 / Entra ID
- Cloud-based telephony or UCaaS environments
- PowerShell or scripting/automation
- Telecom carrier integrations
- ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP Collaboration, Microsoft Teams certifications, or equivalent telecom/networking certifications are a plus.
