This position will be based at CIMMYT’s headquarters in El Batán, Texcoco, Mexico, approximately 45 minutes from Mexico City.
Specific duties: Media Strategy & Execution Implement the Media Relations operational plan aligned with CIMMYT’s mission and strategic goals. Execute media outreach strategies to secure positive coverage in global, regional, and national media. Monitor media coverage and produce regular reports to assess PR effectiveness and inform strategy.
Content Development Write and edit press releases,



media advisories, news articles, and thought leadership content. Craft compelling narratives that highlight CIMMYT’s research breakthroughs, development impact, and human-interest stories. Create engaging content for media channels and support donor communications campaigns.
Stakeholder Coordination Collaborate with internal departments (Creative Hub, Social & Digital, Internal Communications, Executive Communications, HR, and Regional Communications) to ensure consistent messaging and integrated campaign execution. Support media relations needs of the Executive Team and coordinate communications for HR-related events and external campaigns.
Media Engagement & Events Plan and manage media events including press conferences, interviews, and briefings. Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets. Respond to media inquiries and support crisis communication efforts.
Research & Innovation Conduct research on media trends, industry developments, and emerging issues to identify opportunities for coverage. Stay current with communication technologies and best practices to enhance media engagement.
