Roles & Responsibilities
The Safety DRI Expert will be responsible for ensuring the safe execution of all Project Delivery activities by providing technical safety oversight and compliance support.
Responsibilities include:
- Serve as the designated Safety DRI for Project Delivery projects executed within manufacturing facilities.
- Perform Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and Risk Assessments before project execution.
- Review project scope and construction activities to identify hazards and define appropriate risk mitigation measures.
- Supervise daily construction and installation activities to verify compliance with corporate EHS requirements and applicable Mexican regulations.
- Ensure contractors comply with all safety procedures, permits, and plant-specific EHS standards.
- Conduct routine field inspections, safety observations, and compliance audits during project execution.
- Verify the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and compliance with safe work practices.
- Support Permit-to-Work (PTW) processes, including:
- Hot Work
- Work at Heights
- Confined Space Entry
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Electrical Safety
- Crane and Rigging activities
- Document daily project safety activities, inspections, corrective actions, and compliance records.
- Stop unsafe work whenever an imminent risk to personnel, equipment, or facilities is identified.
- Participate in incident investigations, root cause analyses, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate contractor safety onboarding, toolbox talks, and daily safety briefings.
- Support project teams during planning, execution, and commissioning to ensure safety requirements are integrated into every project phase.
- Monitor project safety KPIs and communicate findings to Project Delivery leadership.
- Promote a proactive Safety First culture among employees, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Support internal and external EHS audits.
- Ensure compliance with corporate standards, client requirements, STPS regulations, and applicable NOMs.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety, or a related technical discipline.
- 2–3 years of experience in Construction Safety, Industrial Safety, Project Safety, or EHS within manufacturing or industrial facilities.
- Experience supervising contractors during construction, equipment installation, or infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of Mexican Occupational Safety Regulations (STPS) and applicable Official Mexican Standards (NOMs)
- Experience conducting:
- Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
- Risk Assessments
- Safety Inspections
- Contractor Safety Evaluations
- Ability to prepare technical documentation, inspection reports, and safety records.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Intermediate to advanced English.
