Engagement Overview

LoanBud is seeking an independent contractor to provide senior product and engineering leadership services, playing a central role in shaping the future of our platform.

This is a hands-on engagement for a provider who combines strong engineering leadership with deep product thinking. The contractor will help build and scale our technology platform, provide technical direction across the engineering effort, and ensure the product delivers an exceptional experience for borrowers, partners, and internal teams. We're looking for a provider who understands that great technology is not just about code — it's about solving real problems, improving user journeys, and enabling business growth.

Scope of Services

The contractor will provide services across the following areas:

- Technology strategy & architecture — define and drive the platform's technical strategy and roadmap; align technology initiatives with business goals and product vision; and make architectural decisions supporting scalability, performance and reliability.
- Product & customer experience — coordinate with leadership to shape product strategy and user experience; ensure technical decisions prioritize ease of use, speed and customer experience; and translate business needs into high-quality product execution.
- Engineering direction — provide technical leadership and direction across the engineering effort; establish development processes, standards and quality practices; and advise on technical hiring and the growth of the engineering capability.
- Software delivery — oversee the full software development lifecycle from concept to release; ensure high-quality code, testing and deployment practices; and maintain a strong focus on speed, execution and delivery.
- Platform & infrastructure — design and maintain scalable, secure and reliable systems; oversee infrastructure,



integrations and data architecture; and support uptime, performance and system resilience.
- Cross-functional coordination — coordinate with product, operations, credit and sales functions to translate business workflows into efficient technical solutions and keep technology aligned with operational execution.
- Innovation & continuous improvement — identify opportunities to leverage new technologies including AI and automation, and continuously improve development workflows and system performance.

Required Experience

- 8–15+ years in software engineering and technology leadership.
- Proven experience building and scaling technology platforms.
- Experience leading engineering teams in a startup or high-growth environment.
- Strong understanding of modern architecture, cloud infrastructure and APIs.
- Experience partnering closely with product and business functions.
- Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on.
- Strong written and spoken English, and the ability to communicate effectively across technical and business functions.
- General availability for collaboration overlapping U.S. Eastern Time business hours.

Working Arrangement

This is a fully remote independent contractor engagement. The contractor sets their own schedule, methods,



and location, and provides their own equipment, workspace and internet.

For collaboration, the contractor should generally be reachable during an availability window overlapping U.S. Eastern Time business hours to join planning, product and technical discussions, and reviews with leadership. This reflects when real-time coordination happens; it is not a mandated schedule or minimum-hours requirement. We value a provider who communicates proactively and maintains clear visibility on progress, risks and decisions.

Engagement Terms

This is an independent contractor engagement, not employment. The contractor is responsible for their own taxes, social contributions, insurance, and any registrations required in their jurisdiction, and is not entitled to employee benefits.

Service fees will be based on experience, technical ability, communication skills, and the level of ownership the contractor can assume. Fee structure, invoicing, engagement term, and other commercial terms will be discussed during the selection process. The contractor is free to provide services to other clients; exclusivity is not required.

Selection Process

Interested providers should submit a résumé or profile, a brief note on their interest, a description of platforms they've built and scaled and their role, examples of engineering organizations or efforts they've led, and their general U.S. Eastern Time availability.

Selected providers will have an initial conversation; a technical and product discussion covering architecture, platform strategy, delivery and team-building; a practical evaluation based on a realistic product or engineering leadership scenario; and a final conversation on scope, ownership and commercial terms.
