General summary
NPD Industrial Engineering position is responsible for developing assembly strategy for the new vehicles introduction considering the current production lineup and assembly methods. Responsible for communicating the needs and requests from the plant to the R&D; group from the early stages of the program. Responsible for working with IE team to ensure no turbulence related with new layout, manpower, assembly sequence or complexity of components assembly during the different NPD events (Pilot Runs, Dry Run, SOP, etc.).
Experience and education
Engineering degree (Industrial or Manufacturing)
Experience 4 years or more in manufacturing or automotive industry
Knowledge, skills and certifications
Bilingual (80% English & Spanish) both oral and written.
Knowledge on STPP NOMS-06, NOMS-26, NOMS-27, NOMS-36
Ergonomic Methods (NIOSH, RULA, REBA,

Main tasks and responsibilities
Management of assembly line process for new introductions, focusing on Health and Safety, Quality and Productivity.
Capacity analysis in the designated areas
Assembly complexity control
Layout
Perform line balancing and line balancing releases for new introductions from early gates.
Assignment of BOM components
Creation of routes and SKU’s table
Assembly sequence creation (considering current condition)
Visual aids
Make sure ergonomic and safety workplace environment is not affected by new introductions
Reduce or eliminate impact on assembly Lay-out and manpower due to new introductions.
Responsible to keep updated process architecture and design guidelines.
Keep constant communication with other departments from early gates of new introductions.
Support NPD activities prior and during NPD events.
Work with R&D; and QA to solve critical issues detected after each event.
Participate in Design and PFMEA Reviews and make or buy strategies
Participate in compliance with the QMS (Quality Management System) determined for their role in relation to the standard ISO9001.
Comply with safety rules according to the function.
Comply in time plan trainings related to quality and training.
Identify and report any safety, quality and / or compliance issues and support corrective actions.
