The Controller is responsible for overseeing the accounting and accounts
payable teams; ensuring that the financial statements are accurate and there is a strong
internal control environment.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Oversees the accounting operations, including the maintenance of accounting
principles, practices and procedures; ensures all accounting policies follow US Generally
Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and appropriately maintained.
- Leads and provides development to the accounting team in providing excellent support
to the residents and team members.
- Manages the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an
accurate accounting of consolidated business results.
- Responsible for the research and implementation of new accounting literature and
- Evaluates and maintains a strong internal control environment.
- Oversees IRS and tax reporting; including but not limited to the Form 990, Form 1120,
state income tax filings and Form 1099 preparation and submission.
- Oversees all cost report preparation, filing and audits.
- Participates in several special projects; ensures accounting for system implementations
are appropriate.
- Comply with applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains
knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Ten years hands-on accounting managerial experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Master’s
are preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP.
- Experience leading a team required; must have excellent employee relation skills and
discernment.
- Must be self-motivated and work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a
team.
- Ability to administer confidential information in an appropriate matter.
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
