The Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with aerospace quality standards across manufacturing processes, including machining, casting, heat treatment, and surface treatment. This role plays a key part in internal quality control, customer satisfaction, and certification audits (e.g., AS9100, customer audit). The engineer will drive non-conformance management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives to support both production and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure manufacturing processes comply with AS9100 or NADCAP, and customer-specific aerospace standards.
Lead root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (RCCA), and MRB processes.
Develop and maintain quality inspection plans, control plans, and prepare FAIR documentation.
Collaborate with production, engineering, and customers on quality-related concerns and audits.
Analyze data from inspections, tests, and process metrics to drive improvement.
Conduct internal audits and support external or customer audits as needed.
Train production and inspection staff on quality procedures and standards.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
0-2 years of quality engineering experience.
Basic knowledge of AS9100 or IATF16949 or NADCAP standards.
Experience with quality tools and methodologies: PFMEA, SPC, 8D, 5 Whys, etc.
Basic understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T;, and customer specifications.
Familiarity with inspection tools and techniques (micrometers, gauges, etc.).
Bilingual in English and Spanish (professional working proficiency required).
Basic process knowledge in casting, machining process or surface treatment process.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience preparing and reviewing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) per AS9102.
Knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) and special processes.
Auditor certification (AS9100 or internal auditing) is a plus.
Surface treatment quality management experience is a plus.
