Tax Manager

Role Summary

A Boston-based tax and accounting firm, is seeking a Tax Manager to join their growing team. They specialize in serving content creators and service-based businesses, offering a unique understanding of their complex financial needs. This role is adecuado for someone ready to step into a manager-level position, taking ownership of the full tax cycle for a portfolio of digital entrepreneur clients.

✅ Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and review 1040s, Cs, and 1120s for content creator clients with revenues under $1M.
- Build and use sub-schedules to reconcile P&Ls; before finalizing returns.
- Handle S-Corp basis tracking and AAA accounts with expertise.
- Identify and correct preparation errors before the review stage.
- Provide written feedback to junior preparers on errors when capacity allows.
- Manage client communication through TaxDome, resolving tax questions independently.
- Participate in client tax calls, assisting with savings walkthroughs and answering client questions.
- Oversee the work of one staff accountant, ensuring quality and accuracy.
- Coach staff on return quality and provide constructive feedback.

Requirements





- Proven experience in independently preparing 1040s and Cs.
- Experience in S-Corp / 1120S preparation, including basis tracking and AAA accounts.
- Knowledge of LLC taxation and multi-state / Nexus filing.
- Proficiency in cloud-based tax software.
- Ability to read and reconcile P&Ls;, balance sheets, and K-1s.
- Active CPA or EA designation.
- Experience managing or overseeing junior tax staff is preferred.
- Familiarity with payroll and 401k knowledge for S-Corp clients is preferred.
- Interest in AI tools and their impact on tax preparation workflows.
- A natural curiosity and commitment to ongoing research and learning.
