The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be a member of our engineering team, supporting the design, build, test, and validation of our Subsurface Compressor SystemsTM (SCS).
This position will require leadership and support of a broad range of product development and validation activities at the component, subsystem, and system levels.
This position requires a hands‐on approach to problem solving as well as the use of closed form calculations for component design in high‐speed rotating machinery applications.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Generates 3D & 2D design solutions for Subsurface Compressor System technology and related components, including new designs and modification of existing designsDesign validation through bench‐level testing and calculationsThe Senior Mechanical Engineer will be an integral part of the Change Review Board Process as an approver of changes, design details, and dispositioning of hardware.Evaluation and Dispositioning of supplier Non‐ConformancesComponent and assembly troubleshooting by using production and test hardware.Assist with first article builds of new designs by being a part of the assembly and test process.Generates supporting documentation (e.G., drawings, engineering changes, layouts, engineering reports, test plans, specifications, P&IDs; etc.)Applies best manufacturing methods to the design including GD&TPerforming; Peer drawing checks is a critical part of this position.Conceptualizes new designs based on existing proven designs and innovationsPerforms technical calculations in the areas of mechanical design and packaging of high‐speed rotating machineryEnsures timely and correct technical release of drawings to meet project schedulesAssists other project team members in cross‐functional activities when necessaryReviews drawings for completeness and accuracyApplies critical thinking to all stepsStack‐Up analyses of assembliesManages assembly Bill of Materials and ensures its accuracy in PDM and ERP systems.Skills, Experience, Education, and Abilities:BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering is requiredMinimum of 8 years of experience in an Engineering Role3+ years of experience with Solidworks 3D modeling softwareStrong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing including GD&TExperience; with designing Turbomachinery components such as bearings and seals is desired.Understanding of Electro‐Mechanical design and component packagingProven capability towards maintaining technical ownership of the designProficient using hand calculations and FEA to validate design decisions.Proficient using and creating closed‐form calculations for hardware designExperience in rotating machinery is desiredExperience with high‐speed turbo machinery and/or permanent magnet motors is desiredProject management, coordination, and supervision skills is desired.Intangibles Sought:Must be self‐motivated and an independent workerAble to meet aggressive schedulesDemonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple prioritiesStrong written and oral communication skillsDemonstrates good interpersonal skillsWork well with team membersEnjoys hands‐on work, taking units apart and rebuildingPhysical Demands / Work Environment:This position will be mostly in an office atmosphere; however, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will be expected to support the build and test of products in the production area.
