Data Engineer – Databricks, AI/ML & Financial Services

Location: Mexico – 100% Remote
Employment Type: Full-time Contract
Initial Duration: 3 months, with a strong possibility of extension through the end of 2027 and beyond

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with a strong background in banking, lending, or financial portfolio management to support the development of a Portfolio Management Dashboard.

In this role, you will build and maintain data pipelines, integrate information from multiple sources, transform financial and loan-related data, and use AI/ML capabilities to extract structured information from financial documents. Your work will provide reliable, analytics-ready datasets for portfolio reporting, dashboards, and business decision-making.

The idóneo candidate combines hands-on experience with Databricks, Python, SQL, data modeling, and ETL/ELT with a solid understanding of lending products, loan lifecycle data, and portfolio analytics.

Key Responsibilities

- Build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using cloud-based data technologies.
- Integrate data from internal and external sources into a centralized reporting platform.
- Design data models and structures for portfolio management, reporting, and analytics.
- Cleanse, transform, enrich, and validate financial and loan-related data.
- Optimize data pipelines for performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Implement data quality controls, monitoring, governance, and validation processes.




- Develop AI-powered processes to extract and classify data from structured and semi-structured financial documents.
- Use Databricks and AI/ML capabilities to automate document data capture.
- Monitor extraction accuracy and continuously improve models and business rules.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts to define requirements and resolve data quality issues.
- Partner with BI Developers to enable dashboards, reports, and downstream analytics.
- Support testing, deployment, and validation activities throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

- 5+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering.
- Strong hands-on proficiency with:
- Python
- SQL
- Databricks
- Data modeling
- ETL/ELT development
- Experience building and supporting enterprise-scale data pipelines and data platforms.
- Experience with AI/ML-powered document processing or data extraction solutions.
- Strong knowledge of cloud-based data platforms and modern analytics ecosystems.
- Experience with data quality, data governance, and metadata management.
- Professional experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Banking
- Commercial or consumer lending
- Loan portfolio management
- Credit risk
- Financial portfolio analytics
- Understanding of lending products, loan lifecycle data,



and financial reporting requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote project environment.
- Must be currently located in Mexico.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with Generative AI or document intelligence solutions.
- Knowledge of OCR, NLP, and Intelligent Document Processing technologies.
- Experience supporting BI, dashboarding, and analytics initiatives.
- Familiarity with Power BI or similar reporting tools.
- Experience with portfolio-level analytics or regulatory reporting.
- Experience working in Agile environments.
