Role Description The Software & Automation Engineer will join Quintana Ingenieros in a full-time, on-site position in the Mexico City Metropolitan Area.
The role will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining software and automation solutions that improve how different areas of the company operate.
Depending on the problem, solutions may include web applications, APIs, databases, Python or PowerShell scripts, Microsoft Power Platform workflows, desktop automation, scheduled processes, system integrations, or AI-enabled tools.
The engineer will work directly with operational and administrative teams to understand existing processes, identify opportunities for automation and translate business requirements into reliable technical solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, and maintain internal software applications.
- Develop front-end interfaces and back-end services for web-based solutions.
- Build and maintain APIs, databases, integrations, and automated workflows.
- Automate repetitive administrative and operational processes within Windows-based environments.
- Develop automation using Python, PowerShell, APIs, scheduled jobs, and other appropriate technologies.
- Design workflows using Microsoft Power Automate and, where appropriate, Power Automate Desktop.
- Automate processes involving Excel, Outlook, Microsoft 365, files, folders, PDFs, and structured or unstructured business information.
- Integrate internal applications with databases, ERP systems, third-party platforms, and other business systems.
- Develop solutions for situations where legacy systems or applications have limited integration capabilities.
- Implement reliable unattended processes with appropriate logging, error handling, retries, alerts, and monitoring.
- Improve existing applications, scripts, and prototypes for security, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Implement authentication, authorization, permissions, and appropriate application security controls.
- Participate in application architecture and technology decisions.
- Evaluate whether a business requirement is best solved through software development, automation, integration, AI, or improvement of an existing process.
- Identify automation opportunities proactively across different areas of the organization.
- Integrate Generative AI and document-processing capabilities into selected workflows where they provide measurable operational value.
- Maintain technical documentation, source control, and appropriate development standards.
- Collaborate with IT/Sistemas when solutions require infrastructure, user access, devices, networking, identity, or other IT resources.
Qualifications
- Experience in software development, business automation, systems integration, or a combination of these disciplines.
- Experience developing applications or automation using Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, PowerShell, or similar technologies.
- Experience with back-end development, REST APIs, and system integrations.
- Experience working with relational databases and SQL.Experience automating processes in Windows and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Understanding of scripting, file processing, scheduled processes, and unattended automation.
- Familiarity with Git/GitHub or equivalent version-control systems.
- Understanding of software testing, debugging, logging, error handling, and maintainability.
- Basic understanding of application security, authentication, authorization, credentials, and permissions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to understand a business process and translate it into a technical solution.
- Ability to work autonomously and take technical ownership of assigned solutions.
- Professional proficiency in Spanish.
- Ability to read and work with technical documentation in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Power Automate and Power Automate Desktop.
- Experience with PowerShell and Windows administration from an automation perspective.
- Experience automating Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, or other Microsoft 365 applications.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, or similar relational databases.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, GCP, or AWS.
- Experience with Docker, CI/CD, and application deployment.
- Experience integrating Generative AI or LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, or similar.
- Experience with document processing, OCR, PDF extraction, or automated classification of business documents.
- Experience with RPA or unattended desktop automation.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID, service accounts, permissions, and enterprise authentication.
- Experience integrating or automating processes around ERP or other legacy business systems.
- Experience in industrial, construction, engineering, or B2B environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
