Our client school in Mexico City is seeking a Primary Teacher/Librarian for September ****. This is a TOP SCHOOL!
Our Librarian works to ensure that the school library collection and program is aligned with the goals and objectives of the school, and is an integral component in supporting research skills, a love of reading, and the programme of inquiry. They collaborate with main teachers across the school as well as with the specialist subject teachers. The Librarian works to help support lessons using library resources. Our Librarian works to manage the library inventory ensuring it is responsive to the needs of the learning community and the school's curriculum. Our Librarian is key to empowering our students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers and ethical users of information.
Qualifications:
● Teaching Qualification with experience of primary/elementary age students
● Librarian qualification and experience as a school librarian working with Early Years and Primary ages
● Experience of library software such as Follet
● English speaker
Responsibilities Supporting Learning:
● Collaborate with teachers to support curriculum and research skills
● Promote texts and genres to broaden student reading experiences
● Ensure our inventory is representative of the school community
● Promote the library collection with teachers through events and recommendations based on student need and unit relevance




● Support in the implementation of long and short-term goals as part of the school's strategic plans
● Maintain active involvement with professional organisations and professional development activities related to the role of a librarian in a school.
● Maintain effective relationships with colleagues, parents, and students.
● Create a library that provides students with a positive, inclusive, fun and dynamic learning environment.
● Collaborate with other Humanitree library teams on related subjects and subscriptions.
● Attend campus and multicampus meetings
● Comply with all school policies, terms and conditions of employment as stated in the contract, all handbooks and other documents.
Library Administration:
● Develop and maintain library policies, e.g. collection development, circulation, challenged materials, copyright, damaged materials etc.
● Maintain an ongoing evaluation and reflection on the school library program and its impact on student learning.
Administer budgets according to needs & objectives of the library.
● Organise, classify and catalogue library materials following recognized professional standards.
● Demonstrate competency in selection,



acquisition, circulation, maintenance and inventory of materials.
● Manage time and space effectively, keeping a balance of direct services to students and time spent on administrative tasks ● Organise author events, book fairs, and special projects (for example Battle of the Books and Crown Book Awards).
● Facilitate additional times to access the library for students outside of scheduled classes
● Oversee and manage the Library Assistant in their role as a library administrator

● An ability to work to deadlines
● An openness to learn and grow professionally, connecting with other specialists
