Sorso is an outsourced accounting and fractional CFO firm. We don't just reconcile books and send reports, we act as our clients' financial coaches and turn financial chaos into a clear, prioritized plan they can act on. We believe the most profitable businesses aren't working harder; they're just making different choices, and our job is to give owners those choices.
THE ROLE
As a Fractional CFO, you'll run a portfolio of client businesses end-to-end and own their financial well-being. This is both a strategic and a hands-on controller role. You'll guide owners on planning and profitability, and you'll also coordinate each client's accounting team, prepare the supporting work they rely on, and make sure the financials are clean and GAAP-compliant. If cash runs low, a strategy stalls, or the books aren't audit-ready, it's your problem to solve.
You'll manage several clients at once against firm monthly deadlines. The work is measured by output, not hours logged, and close weeks are heavier than others. Staying organized, accurate, and calm under deadline pressure is essential.
WHAT YOU'LL DO - STRATEGY AND REPORTING
Build and maintain long-term financial models, budgets, and cash-flow forecasts
Monitor and optimize cash flow; protect runway so clients never run out of cash
Analyze financial and operational metrics, benchmark against industry comparables, and build KPI dashboards
Deliver a monthly report and a prioritized action list (3 to 5 priorities) explaining what changed, what to fix, and why
Lead two scheduled client calls per month, presenting financials in plain English and challenging clients constructively
Identify quick wins and cost-saving or revenue-boosting opportunities early in each engagement
Run scenario and sensitivity analysis to flag the client's most vulnerable points
Onboard new clients by gathering data, cleaning up the books, and building the Current Financial Overview
WHAT YOU'LL DO - CONTROLLER AND ACCOUNTING OVERSIGHT
On many clients, you'll run the full finance function, not just advise on it. That includes:
Coordinate and direct the client's accounting team and external bookkeepers, keeping the close on schedule
Prepare and review supporting schedules, workpapers, and files the accounting team relies on
Prepare GAAP disclosure schedules and ensure financial statements are presented in accordance with GAAP
Oversee month-end close, reconciliations, and journal entries, and review for accuracy
Maintain audit-ready books and serve as the point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors
Strengthen accounting processes and internal controls across the client's systems
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
AI fluency (must-have): Deep, demonstrated experience working with Claude, Cowork, and other AI models to get real work done. You should know how to use AI to draft reports, build schedules, analyze data, and move faster without sacrificing accuracy. This is non-negotiable.
Strong accounting and corporate finance foundation (controller, FP&A;, audit, or CFO background)
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and GAAP disclosures,
including preparing disclosure schedules and supporting workpapers
Experience with Carta and managing cap tables
Experience managing or coordinating an accounting team or bookkeepers
Comfortable running a portfolio of multiple clients and juggling overlapping month-end deadlines
Availability that overlaps meaningfully with U.S. business hours for client calls and month-end deadlines
High accuracy under deadline pressure, and discretion with sensitive financial data
Fluent, confident written and spoken English, since you'll be client-facing
Comfort building financial models in Excel and reading across accounting, billing, and operating systems
Clear communicator who can translate numbers into decisions, not jargon
Self-directed, accountable, and comfortable owning outcomes for multiple clients
Reliable remote setup: quiet environment, stable internet, camera-on for client calls
NICE TO HAVE
Experience with QuickBooks, Xero, or NetSuite
Preferably, experience working with U.S. healthcare providers
Prior fractional / multi-client or outsourced finance experience
COMPENSATION AND LOGISTICS
Compensation: $4,000 to $10,000 USD per month, depending on experience and portfolio size.
Engaged as an independent contractor and paid in USD. You set your own working hours and provide your own equipment, and you'll need to be able to invoice legally from your country.
Remote. Open to candidates across Latin America.
HOW TO APPLY
Submit your CV and answer the questions in the application. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a short skills test, record a one-minute video introduction, and complete a paid, task-based assessment that mirrors real client work.
